Holy cow!  I didn't think we'd celebrate another Christmas together, but we did.  Oh, boy did we!  What a year!  In the last year, Jackson morphed into a fabulous Tripawd, fights cancer, frolicked in 5 feet of snow (1.5 months, post amputation) saw another spring and summer with all its glorious sweet grass to roll in, celebrated a 9th birthday, and now is hopping over his ONE YEAR!

Recovery was smooth for us.  The worst part was when he developed urinary cystitis to his metronomic chemo therapy drug, cytoxan.  It struck him about 7 months post-amp (~5 months of being on cytoxan) and it took 7 weeks to clear up.  He's on a new med and hasn't had any problems.

For those going through the starting stages of this, know that there's HOPE.  And know that there's LOVE and SUPPORT here like you couldn't imagine.  Without our Tripawd family, we'd not be doing as well as we are.  Thank you TRIPAWDS.COM for being here.

With love and happiness, especially TODAY,

Katy & Jackson

ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12.  Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ!  No side effects.  We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments.  He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors!  Our love. Our funny little guy!

Congratulations Jackson and Katy!

What a wonderful reason for a celebration!

Now if Jackson could just teach Tucker to be as nimble on the stairs as he is.....that would be great!

Hope you got a special treat today, Jackson.

Hugs

Way to go, Jackson!! What great videos. And I agree with Linda. Jackson needs to become a stair instructor. Murphy coud sure use lessons like that, and he is already AY a year.

Kathi and Murphy

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Thank you ALL!!!!  Yesterday was pretty special.  It took awhile to make the video, and it made me teary, too.  Thinking back a year ago...wow, we've come a long way.  I know we can all remember the diagnosis day, how we were informed of amputation as an option, and that surgery day (drop off, pick up...).  Recovery then happened and for many, it was terribly rough.  What a year.  Really, I didn't think he'd see the end of summer, nor his birthday, nor Christmas.  Amazing!  Every day he's here is a gift.  We'll see what tomorrow brings, but so long as Action-Jackson is here, we're all happy.

He got some special peanut butter ice cream, topped with brussel spouts, and ringed in kale spines.  Jackson has unique tastes!  There were and continue to be many games of fetch with many, many tennis balls.  The older the better!

LOVE and HUGS to all those starting, those that started with us, and those that have passed since we've started here.
