Wow! The time passes so fast! Nova has just celebrated her 3-month ampuversary last week. It's hard to believe in just a few days it will have been 100 days since her amp. Chemo is done, no lung mets, all is well with the world! We are going to start some supplements (Thanks Pam and Tazzie for all the great recommendations) once the Oncologist gives the go-ahead. She also wants us to do chest x-rays in early March so we will do that too.
Nova's recovery has been easier than most on here, but I do recall the agony of those first few days. To everyone struggling with that right now, hang in there! It DOES get better and you will have your baby back soon. I have never regretted the decision to amputate for even one second, and I LOVE it when I see people at the vet who told me that a giant breed couldn't cut it as a Tripawd. Their jaws hit the floor when Nova whizzes by, head held high, then she comes up to sit her giant butt on their lap, dish out a big sloppy Dane kiss, all the while the giant tail goes thunk-thunk-thunk. LOVE IT!!
I know this is silly but in honor of Nova's 3-month ampuversary I have "Obamiconed" her with a couple inspirational posters. I know I'm a doofus, but Jerry's pawrents thought it was cute and asked me to post them here.

I love the Obamicons!
I also love reading success stories like Nova's. My Rottweiler Cooper had his left front leg amputated yesterday...I understand it went well and he is feeling good. I pick him up later today.
Hugs and ear-lick from Cooper for Nova. One of his best doggie friends ever was a friend's Dane girl. 🙂
Carina and Cooper,
Nova is a left front leg amputee too! Check out her blog below if you want to read about some of the challenges we had after surgery.
Glad to hear Cooper's surgery went well. You will feel much better when he gets home. Big dogs can do this! A Rottweiler friend at our vet adjusted fine to 3 legs and made it 2 years after surgery.
Here's a big sloppy Dane kiss and a Dane "lean" for you and Cooper.

Cemil too! Left front, and a giant breed. He hasn't got enough balance yet to lean, but Anatolians do it too. Looking forward to it, again. Love the the Obamicons, especially "Hope". I'm going to your blog...

Hey! You're in Linden! I'm in Flint, we're neighbors.
Where did you have the surgery done? I had it done by Dr Wilson down in Romeo...I've dealt with him for a while. Most of the diagnostics were done at MSU (I was there last Monday) but I simply could not come up with the estimated $3,500-$4,000 this week. Not on top of everything else, plus paying property taxes last week (had I known, I would have delayed the taxes...) I have four dogs and work with a rescue, and my vet bills for one thing or another have been just staggering this last year. Dr Wilson is excellent, he does a lot of ortho work.
I decided to update my sadly neglected blog and make it a Cooper diary for the time being. He's been through a lot since last fall. When I get my blog up to date, I'll post it. Here's a photo of him.

Nova just looks like a honey! I know all about the Dane lean...and the Dane tail-whip too. 🙂 I'm going back to read more of your blog now.
Carina,
I used to live in Romeo and Dr. Wilson was my vet for years! Dr. Wilson is AWESOME, but is too far from Linden. We go to Companion Veterinary Hospital here in Linden for regular visits, but they referred us to the Animal Cancer Center in Canton. Dr. Joyce Obradavich is Nova's oncologist and Dr. Richard Walshaw was her surgeon. They've been great. Dr. Wilson did my Dalmatian's amputation (he had Osteosarcoma too, rear leg amp) several years ago. I wrote about it somewhere in my blog. Although Dr. Wilson is not a cancer specialist, he is the best vet around, so you are in excellent hands!
Wow, I would love to meet up with you for a Tripawd reunion once Cooper is up and around. Keep in touch or feel free to email me anytime at sue@callsue.com.

I LOVE the posters. They are great, and a very special way to honor the beautiful Nova. So happy all is going well for her.
