Oh my God, I am so sorry. I couldn't believe it when I read your post. I am so very sorry for your loss. It does indeed sound like something unusuall was going on. I hope you can take some comfort in knowing that Bocephus knew that you were doing everything you could for him and that he was very loved.
Big hugs for your
Karen and Spirit Magnum
Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. Hi everyone I want to thank you all for all of your support.. It has Been 2 weeks since Bocephus has left and I am still sooo very sad..I am really having a hard time coping But I know he is not suffering anymore... Each and everyone of you all are in my thoughts and prayers.. Hugs to you all
I am so sorry that I had not seen your post on Bo earlier. I know you must be so heartbroken to have gone through everything and then lose him. I wish I could say something to ease your pain. Sometimes things happen that are beyond our control. You were with him and that was a comfort to him.
Harley is an 8 year old Golden Retriever. Amp surgery for an infiltrative lipoma canceled due to two masses in chest. A rescue, he found his forever home on 3/18/07 and left for his eternal home on 1/09/13. His story and medical history are at http://myharley.....pawds.com/
We are still stunned that he didn't make it, and understand completely about the heartbreak. Two weeks isn't a lot of time for a heart to heal. Take as long as you need to mourn, it's OK. Have you seen our Coping with Loss Hospice Guide and Grief Support posts? There is lots of good info there that might help you at this sad time.
Many hugs coming your way. Feel free to come back anytime, we're here to help.

Oh, of course you are still sad - it hasn't been that long. It does take a long time to get to the point where there are more smiles than tears.
I read an article about how losing a beloved pet can be as hard or harder than losing a family member, especially if it's a family member you don't live with. Our pups are there with us all the time, and they leave big holes when they are gone.
We're here for you if you want to tell us more about him. Sometimes it helps to write a bit about your pup, or maybe work on a little memorial project.
Jackie, Angel Abby's mom
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
2 weeks isn't very long so it is understandable that you are sad. Jackie makes a good suggestion. I know I have found it helpful to write about Magnum and to put together photo albums. It can be painful but at the same time very therapeutic.
We are here if you want to vent or just reminisce about your beautiful boy.
Sending you many hugs

I've been on vacation and just read your post-- I am so terribly sorry; he was an absolutely beautiful boy. His death was completely shocking; you must be numb. It's been 9 months since Scout died, and I still break down in tears from time to time-- couldn't read the first chapter of Racing in the Rain to my daughter the other day as they were mentioning the one way vet trip. I was not terribly active on tripawds when Scout was alive-- we were living for the day and not thinking about cancer, but now he's gone, I find it so very helpful to write about Scout and share my experience with others.
If it helps (and when you are ready) we'd love to hear your memories of Bocephus (starting with how he acquired his beautiful name)

Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011
Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011. Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs. If love alone could have saved you…
