Im late as usual! Welcome and it sounds like he is doing great. Being so young I'm sure he will bounce back fast. The biggest problems we had was trying to stop Kayla hurting herself You may need to keep Bo confined for a while if he is full of energy and too bouncy, We had alot of issues with this when Kayla had her surgery
Good luck and keep us updated!

Thank you everyone. today makes 3 days since Bocephus had his amputation.. he got to come home yesterday and he is doing really good I noticed he wants to be everywhere I am ( and I dont mind ) How ever I am having a hard time to keep him calm.. He is a great boy and he dont like laying around... I am on the way back to the vet because he has pulled one maybe 2 of his stitches and its bleeding.. I am not sure if he done this because he is trying to do too much at once or if it was because of scratching.. I am hoping the Doc will give me something for the itching I dont know... maybe it will help I am doing my research though and everything I have read has been really helpful so far... and one thing that was really useful this morning was the artical I read on some of the comments you get when people see your dog after the surgery and things.. I have some very rude neighbors that I had to politely but firmly tell them that my Bocephus is my Blessing and if they dont like the way he looks then dont look in my yard...He is a trooper but I am really concerned on the scratching and him trying to do too much at one time...
Bocephus, you look like a fun dawg! I can see why you are so full of energy, you're just a kid!
Sounds to me like yes, he's trying to do too much. I know it's hard to keep dogs confined after surgery but it's for the best so they don't prevent the incision from coming undone. Also, dogs feel so invincible after surgery because they're still hopped up on pain meds, so it's the human's job to monitor their activity.
If you can keep him in a smaller section of the house, that will be good. Be a strong pack leader, and show Bocephus that you believe he will get better, but first he has to take it easy for a couple of days.
You're doing great though, keep it up!

He looks awesome!
As for the neighbors - yeah, you tell 'em! With Abby, I did keep a small size tshirt on her until she was healed up - just because I know some people (including my big brave brother in law) get squeamish looking at 'booboos'. But once she was healed up, most people were impressed with how well she got around and we really didn't have anyone say anything rude. Hopefully your experience with Bo will be the same.
He is indeed your Blessing, like Abby was mine!

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Aww Bocephus you are adorable!!! Hehehehe glad we aren't the only ones who had that problem. Good luck with keeping Bo calm and contained i know its not easy but it really is esstial for the next few days. We ended up having to take Kayla off most of her meds after a few days as she though she was 10ft tall and bulletproof. But it really is easyier said than done trying to keep them calm - Good luck.
And dont worry about the neighbours some people just dont 'get it'.

Thanks everyone I took him to the vet yesterday and the Doc says his stitches are fine but the problem is that its draining between the stitches.. I told Doc I did not want to jump and run for every little thing I am just trying to make sure I am doing everything I can to make him feel better.. 1 question I have about the draining is I know that sometimes there is alot but Doc says to take a pad and put on the area and wrap it with an ace bandage to avoid getting it all over the house.. but I noticed when I changed the Bandage a few minutes ago it kinda squirted a little bit and looked like there was a small blood clot on the bandage is this normal? I am very concerned cause I want to do my part in getting him healed up.. I dont know if I am just over reacting or what I have been known to do that lol thanks again... Missy
HI everyone.. it is with a very heavy heart and lots of tears that I am writing this...I lost my Bocephus today I am not sure what happened though he was doing really good and I had him at the Doc yesterday and he said everything was fine... But Bocephus started bleeding real bad and He passed away on the way back to the vet... I want to thank each and everyone of you for all of the support I have had here.. You all are wonderful and I am praying everyday for you and your beloved babies!! God Bless you. Missy
Oh Missy! I can't believe this, I am so so sorry!! There had to be some kind of internal bleeding going on that nobody could see, it really did sound like he had a regular seroma . I know your heart must be breaking into many pieces right now, I wish we could make it better for you.
Please know that you did all you could for Bocephus, and he will always be nearby in your heart. We send all our love and condolences to you and your family tonight and always.

Missy, this is never how we expect things to turn out and it's awful the few times it does. It did indeed sound like a routine seroma and there had to be something else going on. There was no way you could have known. I hope your vet can help you determine what happened so it gives you some peace. But you loved Bocephus and did everything he needed. I wish it could have turned out differently.

Oh my goodness, I'm so shocked to see this sad news!
How devastating for you. I'm so sorry - but I hope you are at peace knowing that you did everything you could for him and that everything was done out of your love for him.
He will always be with you in your heart. I hope he will send you a sign to let you know he's ok.
