We are one week post op. Woody had his right rear leg amputated last week. He is doing pretty well. He is not eating great but will eat his favorite treats. We are going to vet tomorrow for a follow up. We got the Ruffwear harness and it is great! I am so glad we got it. Good luck and hang in there! Let us know how it goes.
Hi Woody and pack,
Welcome to Tripawds.
I hope you don't mind that I moved your post and started a new topic for you. This way your story won't get lost in the old thread you originally posted in.
Tell us more about Woody- why the amputation, how old is he- we are kind of nosey that way.
Be sure you bookmark Jerry's Required Reading List. This is a compilation of good info on amputation and recovery.
We never like to see pups HAVE to join our pack here, but you have found a great place for information and support as you go through your tripawd journey with Woody. If you have any questions or concerns chances are good that someone here has an answer for you!!
I'm looking forward to learning more about Woody and maybe seeing some more pics- another thing we like around here!

Welcome, Woody!
This is not a fun experience for dogs or the people who love them, but the advice and support on this site will hopefully make the journey more enjoyable.
Zack, King of Dogs, 1996 to 2010
Zack lived a full 14 years, even to the end.
The joy and memories he provided us will last a lifetime.
Surviving him is his sister, Izzy, a 12-year-old boxer mix quadpawd.
And the latest addition, Zula, an 11-month-old pit bull mix tripawd.

I third that - Goldens do rule!! (but we'll keep it between us goldens) Welcome Woody and family. So sorry that you have to go through this but just know that Woody will be ok and before you know it, you'll have your boy back full of life and energy. Our golden Mackenzie will be celebrating her 1 year ampuversary very soon and we've never looked back. Amputation was the best decision we could have ever made. We wish you the best with everything. Please let us know how Woody is doing - we'd love to see more pictures too. BTW - Woody's avatar is quite adorable!!
Kami (Mackenzie's Mom)
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
Welcome to you Woody and your family too. They will learn so much here to ease you on your way back to feeling better.
Prepare to amaze them with how great you can adapt to the three legged life. You have friends here.
Can't wait to learn more about you!
