Hello everyone! My name is Cassandra and my little darling is named Sasha. Recently my little 6 LB Chihuahua had her leg broken by her dog mother, who is a 15 LB chihuahua. It was her right hind leg that broke. Well our vet checked it out and x-rayed it. He splinted it and told us to come in every two weeks to get it checked. Well are first checkup, they took the splint off and the leg was not getting any blood flow and it has sores on it. The leg was removed two weeks ago on May 6th. She is doing wonderfully. She gets up and down stairs. And now she doesn't leave my side and likes to go in the car. She is getting the stitches removed this Friday. I was looking for answer to phantom pains and things to help her. Thanks for reading! ~Cassandra.
P.S. Currently reading the Amputation recovery and the Post amputation side affects.

What a little sweet pea! Hope her recovery continues to go well. Best wishes,
Jackie, Abby's mom
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Thank you, Jackie.
Okay I read the info on phantom pains and I want to make something like where Cal's mommy took a shirt and sewed the extra arm hole up. Is there some way to make that for a dog missing a hind leg?

for hind leg pups, people often try little boy boxer shorts...the tail comes out the fly. glad to hear sasha is doing well after the surgery, hopefully the phantom pain will be short lived. pictures, we need pictures!!!
charon & gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
Thank you! I hope it is short lived. I can't stand Sasha in pain. I worry about her to much. And she is so tiny.

Welcome to the World of Tripawds Sasha and mom!
Sorry to hear about her leg but it sounds like it's going so well. I bet within time and because she is so small, you won't even notice her leg missing!
One of our fellow tripawd members who has pugs, recommended not picking the small ones up all the time or they'll get to used to being helped. That's the only advice I can give other than to love her lots and lots which I know you are doing!
BEST of luck! Sending super powerful healing wishes so Sasha will be good as new soon!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Thanks, cometdog. I never usually pick her up anyway. Only to put her up and down on the bed, in the vehicle, and to sit with me in the chair.
P.S. Posted pictures on my blog if anyone wants to see.
