I see we have another handsome fella to flirt with! WOOHOO! The girl dogs are cheering!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Wow what a HUGE dog - and you have two. I hope you have a large house

Tai – 9 yr old lab. Diagnosed Osteosarcoma Dec 18/09. Front right leg amputated Dec 21/09. Started chemo Jan 7/10. Lung mets discovered Sept 16/10. Valiant to the end on Oct 26/10 when cancer reappeared in a leg and we made the decision to set her free. Forever in my heart where not even cancer can take her from me.
Io is such a beautiful dog! I'm sorry to hear of his diagnosis but glad to hear he is doing well. Emily did well with her chemo with the exception of low white blood count after her first session. They increased the time between treatments and she did great. Good luck with everything. I will be praying for Io and your family.
Debra & Emily, a five year old doberman mix, who was diagnosed with an osteosaecoma. She had a right rear leg amputation on May 19, 2009. On November 10, 2009 she earned her wings and regained her fourth leg.
Io went out today for a "walk" for the first time today . It was a very interesting meeting of Io's 'old walking brain' and new 'Tripwad body'. It seemed to go something like this :-
Van door opens – Old walking brain hurls dog out of van while new tripawd body (and startled pawrent) try to control three legged landing.
Old walking brain launches dog towards park while new tripawd body tries to adapt to three legged movement at speed
Old walking brain cocks leg to pee on interesting smell, new tripawd body desperately adjusts balance to prevent capsize and tries to explain to old walking brain that they need to do lady style peeing fron now on
Old walking brain tries to swing around to see dog that is barking behind him, new tripawd body does more drastic balance adjustments for a three legged turnarond !
Old walking brain finally calms down and introduces himself formally to new tripawd body – I think they may become very good friends !!
Glad to hear lo is getting the hang of things. Thanks for the laugh!

Hi Lo and Lo's mom-Gorgeous wolfhound. So nice you found this site. So far, it's been my sanity with this horrible disease. Not everyone in your life will agree with your decisions, but at least on this site EVERYONE understands. Had to relate to your rendition of "old walking brain." It's good to take time to laugh!! I see you are from Bedford too!! My Bedford I would imagine is a bit different than yours. Where is Bedford In England? My sis lived there for 15 years. Walton on the thames, and I believe Sandhurst, and I think Surrey too. I had visited 3-4 times. Loved the Cotswalds, love the people, and OH my you LOVE your dogs!!!! Quite refreshing really.

OMG, I laughed and laughed - Thank you! After the bad week with Fortis, every time I looked at the forum, the tears just flowed. This was a refreshing change. I am so glad the old walking brain finally gave in to the tripawd body. I'm sure they will get along quite nicely from now on.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.
The November Five - Spirits Max, Cherry, Tika, Trouble & Nova. 11/2008 - 3/2013 An era ends as Queen Nova crossed the Bridge.
So very funny. Isabelle, who can sometimes be most unladylike, still forgets occasionally & tries to lift her only rear leg. Then she tries to pretend she didn't just fall. When she gets it right she lifts her stump.
lo is beautiful. It's terrific to see him up enjoying himself
Excellent post!
Laughs are needed around here today.
My pug Maggie was a rear amp (by the looks of your pics she was about the size of Io's head!) and was a bit frustrated until she got her balance figured out. She would fall and stare at me like it was my fault. Eventually she was fine, and actually would use a fall into a 'sit' as a pivot to change directions.

@betsy If you're wondering where your post about Buddy went, we moved it to this new topic so it didn't get buried here.

Holy Moly, how tall is that guy?? You sure that isn't a horse, how much does he weigh, is he good at getting woodchucks? Gus also had to swallow a little pride with the female stance for whizzing. I think the most adjusting Gus had to do was when he laid down, he usually laid on the side of his amp, and he wouldn't lay that way after surgery, so a couple weeks after I watched him walk up the barn bank and go to lay down as usual, fell right over, cracked me up, about the only time he would lay on his amp side was when he would lay on the couch using the arm to support. Gotta love a big dog, Glad tohear recovery is going well, Paws up, Spirit Gus and Dan
My buddy Gus had a left front amputation on April 7, 2010 and lived a great life until July 26,2010
