Hello! Glad to be here! I have a 17 month old tripawd boxer named Punch. I live in BritishColumbia, Canada. We rescued Punch in 2010 from a local boxer rescue. The day before we met she had her front left leg amputated. Her former owners had sat on her at only 10 weeks old and splinted her leg as they could not afford the surgery. At 9mths the leg was destroyed and she was surrendered to LA boxer rescue. She was brought to Canada from Los Angeles for the amputation when I saw her it was love at first sight! She is a wonderful boxer...lots of fun very sweet with the typical silly boxer personality.
I find that she uses her mouth and alot of neck play/bitting which is normal for boxers but hers is tooo much and she tends to get too rough doing it. Im sure she is compensating for the missing leg and uses her mouth to play. Any other tripawds that use their mouth alot? I am a pet sitter and dog walker so she always has buddies to play with but I worry about the excessive neck biting. Thanks!
Looking forward to learning more about these special dogs!!
Wendy
Thanks for joining, and bless you for saving Punch. Your future posts will not require moderation.
Wyatt loves to greet other dogs by the back of the neck. And he was very mouthy when we adopted him after his rescue from neglectful owners. It took time, and a lot of distraction training, but he's gotten better.
Be sure to check out Roxy's blog if you don't hear from lesliec – her dog Roxy is another Boxer missing a front left leg who inspired the latest Tripawds Have More Fun t-shirts and gifts!

Hi Wendy!
Roxy's mom here. Punch is a beauty! It's horrible the way her story started, but it seems like her luck has turned!
I can't say that Roxy has a thing with going after necks. Roxy is a kisser. She has a habit of licking our other dogs (both boxers) in the face. Any time they are whining or barking, it seems like she feels like she needs to console them by giving kisses.
Our other girl, Kali, has always gone for other dogs' legs. That's how she takes them down. So if you figure out an effective way of fixing this behavior you'll have to let us know.
Best of luck!
Leslie
P.S. What kind of dog is that solid black beauty in your avatar?

Yo! Darn right I have! Heh heh, thanks Dad.
Yeah, I used to bite everything in site and I think that sometimes I felt a little insecure. I mean if you were abused and then lost a leg you might be a little defensive too. Oh and necks taste the best! I have to remind my peeps that I AM a Shepherd after all, it's what I was born to do.
I'm a lot hoppier in my skin now, though, and rarely bite like I used to.
Now, little snack dogs, well, that's something Mom says I need to work on!
