I have no doubt sweet Angel continues to do so well because of the love you have for her. She knows how you feel and responds to it. That is just awesome.
How long does the pelvis take to heal? Many wishes for a speedy recovery from our house.

Thank you all for your support.
The pelvis will take 6 weeks to heal fully. We haven't discussed when she can start to walk. She's already standing and tries to hop on it, but I immediately support her rear end and just follow her until she sits. She only goes a few feet now. We don't want anything to go wrong with her new plates and screws. She hates the cart! The doctor said she so independent. That's good and bad!
She didn't want any lunch, but ate some pasta and chicken for supper. Then she took a big poop!
I am amazed every minute of the day at how she survived and how strong she is. I know God is the reason she's alive and doing so well, but Angel has a part in it too! She has never whined or cried. She must be hurting, but refuses to show it. Angel is my hero. I keep thinking that we could have 10 more years together! It's amazing!
Love and prayers,
Ruth, Angel and the rest of the 6 pack
I didn't notice until now how close we are! We're in Orange, TX, almost neighbors!

Glad to hear Angel is home and doing so well. I was starting to worry not hearing anything. Sounds like she is determined to show the doctors that she is going to heal faster than they expect her to. Just keep supporting her and Loving her.
By the way, my nephew lives in Orange and I have a sister in Beaumont!

Shanna and Trouble-We should get together sometime later this summer when the kids are healed up. Meet at a dog park or something?
We'll plan to do that when Angel feels up to it. Sounds like fun.

Angel isn't the only hero in this story...her mommy and daddy had a lot to do with it. Where would she be without you?
It's a wonderful, tear jerking, stand up and cheer type of story.
Wishes for a continued successful recovery.
Please keep us posted!

What a brave girl. Hang in there. I understand your questioning what is best for Angel. Cotton had three major orthopedic surgeries (in less than a year) before we finally had to amputate his right front. I worried about the amputation as he is such a big boy but he is doing great now (5 days after surgery). Angel will continue to amaze you on a daily basis.
As for finances, it is difficult but sure aren't they worth every penny (even borrowed pennies!!). I used CareCredit, might be worth looking into if your vet accepts it. They do interest free 12 month payment plans.
Seems like you need to remind your co-workers about Southern kindness!!!
We'll keep you & Angel in our thoughts.
Best of luck
Ellie & Cotton
Hi everyone,
I have a question. We've been feeding Angel what ever she'll eat. Chicken, hamburger, pasta, rice..people food. Now I'm trying to get her to eat her kibble (which she ate interspersed with people food throughout this). I expected her to be a little upset when we switched her back, but she hasn't eating much except a few pieces for 2 days now. I know her teeth are OK bc she loves her pig ears. How long should I let this go on? She needs food, but I'm worried that if I give her some people food we'll just start all over with her being 'upset'. Should I just give in?
Otherwise she's doing well. The doc said she may only have to wear the bandages for 2 more weeks; her skin is closing in quickly!
I'm certainly no expert on dogs or nutrition, but I do own a dog who would never eat if he didn't have to. The best trick I have used for getting Jack to eat dog food is put a little piece of people food (or canned dog food) in the bottom of his dish and put the food I actually want him to eat on top of it. That way he has to eat his way down to the food he actually wants. It also helps if you get something sticky that she likes (for Jack it's canned food or peanut butter) and put a little in with her kibble so that her food bites get delicous bits of tastiness on them. Sometimes Jack gets so fussy and won't eat all day, so the next day I just give in and feed him canned food just so he'll have something in his tummy. Glad to hear Angel is doing so well after her stressful ordeal!!!
Did she previously eat the kibble she's now snubbing? I wouldn't give in, but I'd ask Pam how long it is safe to wait.

Yea! Angel ate yesterday. We put hot chicken broth on her dog food and let it soak in. She ate it all! I think she was feeling 'full' because she hadn't pooped since Sunday. Yesterday evening she pooped and seemed like she felt much better. I was getting worried something was wrong.
Thanks for your advice!
When Chuy was recovering he wouldn't eat at first. We gave him canned dog food because that was all he wanted. To get him back on his kibble, I started to put boiled chicken, broth and some cooked barley or rice on the kibble. He started eating like a champ again. Now he won't eat his kibble without it. I keep putting the barley and/or rice in it to balance out the protein/carb ratio. If Angel wants chicken broth, you can make your own by boiling chicken and giving her both the meat and broth or just buy it at the store. They sell low sodium broth so you don't have to worry about salt intake too much.
Whatever they want, they're worth it!
