Four years. It's been four years since Princeton had his amputation and subsequent chemo. And he continues to thrive. He goes in for cancer checks every 4-5 months, and all is good. No mets. No nothing related to his original diagnosis of osteocaroma. This past January he had an eight centimetre mass on his left lateral lobe of his liver which was surgically removed. It turned out to be benign.
He's definitely slowing down, and needs assistance with his "Blue Dog" harness as a result of arthritis, but both of his vets are amazed, as are his surgeon and other caregivers. His last X-ray displayed relatively good joints and he still runs at least half a mile a day with me supporting his back end. Left unsupported, he can still shuffle on his own. He's gotten quite muscular in places and he tries to remain active.
He is on Resvantage, mushroom extracts, milk thistle, and a very small dose of anti inflammatory.
To everyone experiencing a terrible diagnosis of osteocarcoma with your furry friend, never give up hope.
Oh yah, Princeton just turned 17 years old.
I (and Princeton) wish you all the best.
Wheeeee! Oh my DOG Congratulations! We treasure stories like this. Not all dogs beat the odds but when they do it is a BIG day around here. FOUR YEARS POST - OSTEOSARCOMA???? WOW!
I went back and looked at your original post, what a long road you've traveled. I'm bummed though, your photos are all gone from Photobucket. Do you have any new ones you can share? We'd love to see him!
Thanks for taking time to come by and update, it means a lot to us and those who are just now starting out. Princeton rocks!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
