Hi, I'm Nesta. I am 10 years old and have lived my whole life with my girl Kassi. Aw shucks, she's more than just my girl; she's my best friend, my mom, my everything. We have done so much together in my lifetime, but I will save the stories for later. I was born in Breckenridge, CO. We lived there until I was 9 months old, and then before I got too settled up in the high country, we moved all the way to Holland. Yep, that's right - Holland, as in The Netherlands, across the BIG POND we flew! We stayed there for a year while my mom was a nanny for a little girl. It was an awesome adventure! After we were done there we came back to America and lived in Montana for a few months before going back to my home state Colorado. We couldn't get enough of it. I might not look like a snow dog, but boy do I have stories to tell about my adventures in the white fluffy stuff!! For the next 8 years, we lived in Colorado Springs and then Steamboat Springs - living the good life amongst the mountains. In 2012 we moved back to my mom's home state of North Carolina. I didn't mind, as long as I was with her, life was all good. In Oct. I started limping on my back year leg and by November, after I had a terrible shocking pain in this leg, my mom took me to the vet, where I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. My mom did not waste any time in making the decision to amputate. Four days later I was going in for surgery. Now, 4 months later, I am doing great! No nagging pain, although I think I might be experiencing what the humans call phantom limb pain - But we are working on that. My mom was her saddest when I was first diagnosed, I have never seen her so sad. But she is doing better now that I am doing better. We don't take a single day together for granted! Life is good in NC, and we are excited about the return of Spring!!
Hey Nesta, I can't believe this is your first time in the forums! We've been following your blog all along and are really glad that life has been good to you! Those snow da pics are just amazing, I can't believe that's in North Carolina!
I'm so glad you decided to share your story here. The osteosarcoma journey isnt an easy one, but I can tell it's not getting you down. Keep it up Tripawd Hero!
