Try not to worry, most dogs won't eat for a day or two after surgery. the pain meds really mess things up!
Remember to get your rest, you'll need your strength when she gets home. Hope you had a nice visit with her.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MAGGIE IS HOME!!!!!!!!!!
She is still not eating but i am enticing her with some cooked ham! I also gave her her stomach pill. She looks great. She seems a little pissed at me at the moment but she'll get over it! getting out of my suv was a struggle as she refused to get up and she is too heavy for me to lift. My husband built a ramp that attaches to our hitch in the back but it wasn't so useful today.
Is it normal that they do not want to get up? Will she become a lazy dog? Should i encourage her to get up ,maybe not today. but tomorrow?
you guys are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!much love
laurie
Glad she's home!!! You may have to get 'fancy' with figuring out what she'll eat for a while. I had to for a couple weeks. Fried eggs, cooked chicken, baby food, kibble(she's a raw fed dog), McDonald's cheesburgers
The the vet's office give you a sling to help with her? Is she a front or rear amp? I can't remember...
I wouldn't say she'll become lazy but at least with my Maggie, she does lay around more than she used to...but she's a "couch" potato dog, really, by nature.
Let your dog guide you in what you do with her....
Glad she's home!

maggie is a left rear amp. Yes, i do have a sling and i have another aid on the way the one that has the handle on the top. She was slowing down but I need to rev her up!! Need to workout that back leg. She had a embelism in her spine a couple years ago and i got her back almost to 95% by exercising her and swimming. Obviously it will be a while before she swims and now the cold weather is coming.
maggie works with me. check out our business web page and scroll down to the bottom and see our mascot maggie!

seems like maggie has 9 lives. We are only on the fourth.
She's a great mascot! Love the pictures!
If you ordered a Ruffwear harness , it may take until the stitches are out and she's healed up before you can use it. Couldn't use mine on my Maggie until then...I tried using it too soon and it hurt her - she yelped when I pulled up on it.
I have some video's on my Maggie's blog of her PT workouts...maybe you might want to check them out...on FitPaws balance disc/dome and pads...to get your Maggie fit after she's healed up.

I am so happy to see Maggie made it through her surgery. I had noticed that you were going through this at the same time I was and I was excited to share stories. I will continue to watch for her recovery and would love to see pics. As you know it is a tough decision to make to go through with the surgery. I do know that if we had not tried for Gracie and she was still here in pain I would have felt just as guilty as I do now, sitting here wishing I would not have put her through it.
I am positive that now that you have Maggie home she will thrive with your love and affection and will continue to improve...
