Our first night didn't go very well. Myla was crying out in pain almost the entire night. The vet is going to add Tramadol to her pain meds. She is also VERY tired and lame to the point that she can barely even sit up. Have others experienced this with their older dogs? I wrote our first blog entry about her recovery since she has been home. Any comments on her recovery would be greatly appreciated. This is tough 🙁
Recovery is VERY tough. They all react differently, some have phantom pain (it sounds like Myla does) and others don't. Keep in contact with your vet, they can get it under control, it just takes some adjusting the meds. I didn't have to deal with it so I can't comment directly, but hang in there, someone who has will be in shortly to make you feel better.
They have good and bad days during recovery. Some days they want to move about and some they don't. Unless she is a block of cement for an extended period of time, she's probably ok. Also the pain meds makes some of them pretty goofy. You will begin to see marked improvement when you are able to wean her off all pain meds - 10 to 14 days, generally.
Hoping you and Myla have a peaceful, restful day.

Hang in there, it's very early in Myla's recovery journey. Once you get her pain under control, she should become more comfortable. Best wishes for her feeling better soon!
