Hi everyone,
For those of you that were following my previous post about the possibility of Myla having her front leg amputated: she had the surgery this morning and is resting and doing well at the vet clinic. The vet wants to keep her over night to keep an eye on her, and she should be able to come home in the morning! Thanks to everyone that has provided me with the advice and support I needed to make this decision.

Hi Neala!
I'm so glad to hear Myla is doing well! Especially after all your worries related to the anesthesia. I know it'll be such a huge relief getting her home tomorrow. Make yourself get plenty of rest tonight. The next two weeks are usually rocky, but you guys can make it through. Keep us updated.
Thinking of you both,
Leslie
So glad to read your surgery is over and you are resting and doing ok. We are praying for a speedy and uneventful recovery for you Myla. Keep us updated.

I'm so sorry that Myla and you had to go through this. But it's great to hear that the surgery is over and was a success. I pray Myla gets to come home tomorrow and that her recovery is uneventful. Sending lots of positive and healing thoughts your way.
Please keep us updated.

Glad to hear everything went well. It is such a relief when you hear the vet give positive news. I hated the day of surgery, I swore there must have been 48 hours in that day, but I never regretted having it done. In no time at all you won't believe how well Myla will be, they are way less dramatic that us goofball humans. Big Paws up, Spirit Gus and Dan
My buddy Gus had a left front amputation on April 7, 2010 and lived a great life until July 26,2010
We're so glad Myla made it through surgery ok and will be home tomorrow! We'll keep fingers and paws crossed for a good recovery for your beautiful girl!

We can't wait to hear when you are home where you belong!

She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Your story brings back memories of two years ago. Trouble had her amputation the day before Thanksgiving. I never thought that day it is would be something we would be thankful for.

Thanks for all the encouragement! Myla is home resting on the mattresss that we moved on to the living room floor. She is REALLY tired and could only make a couple of steps at the vet before we had to pick her up. She also had some growths (not really sure of the medical term) removed from her gums, so her mouth is a little bit sore as well. She has eaten a little and just had lots of water. I'm sure the next few weeks will be challenging, but I'm just so happy to have her home 🙂
That's great! I'm so glad Myla is back home with her family. It sounds like she is doing just fine. These next couple of weeks will fly by. And before you know it, it will be time to remove her stitches. Eating and drinking are good signs. Sending lots of positive and healing thoughts your way. Thanks for keeping us posted.

That is great news. I recommend you talk with your vet about Gabapentin as soon as her fentynal patch is to come off. It makes a big difference in the comfort level I have found out.
I hope this will be a smooth recovery for her. My other recommendation is to sleep while she does!

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us. Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.
She doesn't have a fentynal patch. Currently she's on 1.5 ml of Metacam a day. Will have to wait a see how she make out with this I guess. She also has dissolving stitches that should be gone in around a week. Thanks again, and I'm sure I'll have more questions. Maybe time to start a blog?
