Here is the sad story about how the wonderful Marmaduke came into my life. A few months back me and my husband stopped at a gas station out of town for gas and drinks. While I was waiting outside this poor little GSD puppy came up to me head down but tail a wagging. I noticed he was dragging his front leg. Also he was severly emaciated and sick looking. I immediately scrounged around the car for him something decent for him to eat. He took with a big kiss on my hand. Then out comes this guy out of the store hollering at me for feeding his dog. We exchange a few "nice" words while he explains why the dog looks like that. So here it goes. The guy bought the dog at 6 weeks (too young) for his gf. She liked him at first then he got old. So the guy said one day he pushed him out the truck, but he thought it just sprained the dogs leg. No big deal he says. That duke just doesn't like food so doesn't eat. So my husband shows up at this point I tell him the story and he says very nicely the man that he can either hand the dog over to me or we can call the authorities to sort it out, after alittle arguing he hands over the dog. After we get back to town we head to the vet thinking it'll be ok just some xrays and a splint. We couldn't believe what the vet told us. He was about 4 months old and had his leg broke 6 weeks prior, with three broke ribs, ear infection, worms, and mange. Then the worst news came there was too much infection in the leg, it had turned black and ice cold, we had too amputate from the knee down. Here we are two months later and you'd never of known he had a past like that. He's as happy as can be and one of the best dogs I've ever known. He can even dig and shake with his little nub, and I guarantee he could probaly outrun most dogs on four legs on his three. sorry so long and thanks for reading.

What a terribly sad beginning for this little guy. Thank goodness you and your husband happened to come along and have the courage and compassion to stand up and say something. Marmaduke is one lucky pup. I'm sorry the leg had to be taken but by the sound of it he dosen't even know it's missing . Thanks for rescuing the little guy and for sharing your story with us.

Can you feel me wrapping my arms around you and your husband right now in a virtual hug?
You brought tears to my eyes for saving this helpless soul and for the cruelty of SOB's. If there is a hell, I hope this guy rots there!
Welcome again you guys! I can't wait to hear happy and fun Marmaduke stories! I want to see more pics! If you don't know how, here's a little tutorial since you probably have a Facebook account.
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Is there any way to post pictures without a facebook or photobucket? I don't have either of those

You can start a blog and upload photos stored on your computer directly to the blog. Once they are uploaded to your blog it is easy to post them on the forum because your blog acts as the hosting site.
Before I had a blog I opened a facebook account just for the purpose of storing photos that I wanted to upload to the forum. That is, once the wife got ticked off at me for using her facebook and kicked me off ....not a good thing to use wife's facebook.

Some people ... [sigh]
Bless you for saving Marmaduke! He's a beauty, but then we're kinda partial to close up GSD pics!
Now that you started a blog, it's easy to embed photos in your forum posts. Here's detailed instructions.

Marmaduke was lucky to have found you. It is hard to believe what some folks will do to a poor defenseless animal. It makes me ill.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

Your story is so moving. It brought tears to my eyes.. What a very happy ending. Marmaduke is so lucky to have found you. I'm so impressed and amazed with you and your husband to have the courage and strength to challenge this guy the way you did. Most people probably would have walked away. My heart is melting knowing that Marmaduke is ok and that you rescued such a wonderful dog. You are true angels. We look forward to hearing more about your Marmaduke!
Kami (Mackenzie's Mom)
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
There is definitely something to be said about doing the right thing, at the right time, in the right place. Because both of you most certainly did!!! You are so kind to have taken him in your hearts and given him a loving home. Like others have said, other people in that situation probably wouldn't have stepped in....
We hope Marmaduke continues to do well!!!
-Chloe's mom
Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog
Three barks for good humans!
I came from a bad situation too, and like Marmaduke, lost my leg as the result of totally stupid people. But as you've already seen, we are resilient SUPERDAWGS who bounce back and don't hold grudges. All we want is love, food and play. Oh and like Cesar says, discipline too (although I don't really want that but Mom and Dad keep trying to push that one on me!).
Marmaduke and I have a lot in common. I hope we get to meet up in pawson some day. Thanks for joining!

His story and others like it always make me sad and angry. I applaud you for doing the right thing and defending this helpless boy when he needed you the most.
I am so glad to read that he is doing well now, way to go Marmaduke and family! We can't wait to read on about his great adventures 🙂
I bet he and Wyatt would love to hang out and swap stories. The "my new people are the best" kind of stories.

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us. Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.
Thank you I think Duke would love to meet Wyatt, he's never seen another tripod let alone a shephard I think it would make him happy. We are so blessed to have him
