Well, I have to admit, a few weeks back she had this weird infected spot the size of a time on her incision site and the vet said that they were "fast growing cells" and you all know what that probably means…
So I had my little cry and then I decided, screw that! She's happy, she's smiling, she chatters with excitement with the hope that one of my little ones (the human kind) will decide that they want to give her a meatball instead of eat it themselves. (One of the perks of being a doggie in a home with 3 kids under the age of 4 is that they also spill a lot. lol)
So yeah, maybe she's not in "perfect" health, I mean she *is* missing a leg already so DUH, but I'm not going to think about what her insides are like or how much time we hypothetically have left, because then I wouldn't enjoy the time we DO have. Besides, I need her to stick around because I spent a lot on supplements and damn it, we are NOT going to let perfectly good kelp powder go to waste!! 🙂 Plus, I promised to take her on some fun outings and I don't think the backyard camping is going to cut it…
Long story short, 5 months and going strong! GO MIKA GO, you Wonder Dog, protector of the WeeBeals!

Congrats to you and Mika. I love the picture. I guess being a dog in the house with little humans is a wonderful thing as far as snacks go
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.
The November Five - Spirits Max, Cherry, Tika, Trouble & Nova. 11/2008 - 3/2013 An era ends as Queen Nova crossed the Bridge.
Our new adopted girl is 9 months out and doing well. She was 10 years old and lost a right fore leg.
She sleeps a lot (not sure if she did prior to adopting her a couple weeks ago), but she managed to un-dogproof our fence today and get into the schoolyard behind us where her feral cat friends go during the day.
Our cattle dog was going nuts which is how I knew something was wrong. 🙂
I am ok with her sleeping. She reacts to food, her leash, and the back door opening. I'd probably sleep a lot more myself if I had no responsibiilities.

Happy Ampuversary, Mika! Holly and Zuzu will enjoy some treats in your honor!
Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!

Happy Ampuversary Mika!!!! Treats all around. Tai's on side for the dropping of the frittata, wouldn't that make a nice Ampuversary celebration? Keep up the great work in the cancer fight!!
Laura and Tai Dog
Tai – 9 yr old lab. Diagnosed Osteosarcoma Dec 18/09. Front right leg amputated Dec 21/09. Started chemo Jan 7/10. Lung mets discovered Sept 16/10. Valiant to the end on Oct 26/10 when cancer reappeared in a leg and we made the decision to set her free. Forever in my heart where not even cancer can take her from me.
