I adopted Wayne (the name I gave him) on 10/6/12 from North Shore Animal League in Port Washington, Long Island. He's a happy dog -- and the minute we made eye contact I knew he was the one.
I only know very little of his history: He arrived at the shelter with only three legs and is a rescue from the south after Hurricane Isaac. He was heartwormy and sick, but they patched him back up. Wayne seems to be about 6-7 years old and clearly came from a good home: he was housebroken, knows basic voice and hand commands and is as loving as can be. He's great with people and pretty good with other dogs. He loves belly rubs too!
I don't whether he lost his leg (right rear) to cancer or some other trauma. I am sure Wayne's original family misses him, but I love him too. Meet Wayne!
Oh, he looks like such a sweet baby!
Welcome to the group, Wayne and Wayne's peeps. I hope his amp is not cancer related and that you'll have many many years together with lots of time for belly rubs.

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. What a sweet face!
We have a special place in our hearts for people who are willing to adopt a Tripawd, thank you so much for giving Wayne a chance and sharing his story with us. We hope to hear lots more about your adventures together!
