Hi Everyone.
I wanted to introduce you to our Freddie Mac. He is about 6 yrs. old and lost is right front leg in an auto accident while he was with his previous owners. We adopted him this January from Life is Labs rescue near Atlanta, GA. He had been with them for 3 yrs. as it seems no one wanted a tripawd, black lab and older. It took just about 3 months for him to finally adjust to us and now its like he's figured out how good he has it. We spoil him and his sister Fannie Mae but also have rules and structure. They are good pals him and his sister but that too took awhile. He can run and jump and play just like any other dog just walks oddly and doesn't do well on a leash as it pulls and messes up his balance. We just ordered the webmaster harness and are hopeful we will be able to walk him easier with it and be able to get him in our truck as the ramp we purchased won't work. Freddie Mac loves to eat and keeping him at a safe weight means feeding him just 3 1/2 cups of Whole Earth Dog food mixed with weight balance food by Pedigree. He gets some bones but his main treat is a filled cow shin bone that he loves. He also gets a daily supplement of glucosimine and chondroitin (i know i didn't spell that right). We are trying to keep his one front leg as healthy as possible. He is the strongest dog and when pulling on his 6 ft. long knotted rope and pull me over. He loves to play with it and run with his sister. This winter we had more snow and a horrible ice storm and he just loved it. Would eat the snow and ice like crazy and jump around and play in it. He has turned out to be the sweetest, most loving dog and I don't know why anyone wouldn't have wanted to adopt him. No dog is perfect so why would a dog with 3 legs keep anyone from adopting him. We lost our beloved black lab/great dane named Maggie Mae last August to Lymphoma and weren't going to get another dog but our Fannie Mae was lost without her so we just happened across Freddie Mac on a search online one day and the rest is history. I look forward to visting with other tripawd parents in the future. Thanks!
(i wanted to post some pics but didn't know how.)
Welcome to Tripawds, your future posts will not have to wait for moderation.
As you have found, Tripawds are wonderful, inspiring companions. Good job looking past is 'handicap' and seeing the dog within! I'm partial to black dogs, although mine are a bit smaller now. I used to have a Newfie mix, but I've been with pugs for about 16 years now, so far all black. My Tripug was named Maggie, I'm sorry for your loss. Cancer sucks. Mag lost her left rear leg to mast cell cancer, she hopped happily through life for almost 4 years.
Here is how you insert pictures: http://tripawds.....-photos-1/. They have to be. Hosted on line somewhere.
I have to run, but I will approve your other post. Again, welcome!

Tri-pug Maggie survived a 4.5 year mast cell cancer battle only to be lost to oral melanoma.

How lucky you and handsome Freddie Mac were to find each other.....seems like a perfect fit. I am a bit bias, but I think Labs are the greatest!! I had a sweet Lab Maggie that I lost to the ugly "c" almost 3 years ago. I always called her Maggie Mae after the song by Rod Stewart. I do love all your cute "mortgage banking" names for your pups!
Just wanted to say, welcome to Tripawds, and best wishes for a long happy life with all your fur kids.

Oh my goodness, your pups names had me cracking up. How cute!! I don't know why anyone would look past a tripawd either. My first pup Jake was a tripawd from cancer and after he passed I saw our pup Tanner on a shelters website. I almost busted the shelters doors down to get him. Isn't it absolutely amazing how all of these pups do?! They just keep on loving life.
You will love the webmaster harness . We use ours all the time, it is really convenient and sturdy.
Can't wait to see pics!

Welcome Freddie Mac and his Mom,
Tuck (a ten year old chocolate lab) has been a tripawd - front right leg - for eight months now. Tucker continues to do well and his loving Lab personality is the same as ever.
Tucker has a Ruffwear harness and both of us love it
