Esee looks amazing - what a beautiful dog with a great personality! And she obviously has a fantastic home where she is already comfortable - look at her sprawled out on the top of the couch and sitting next to your daughters. She doesn't miss that leg one bit.

Curious - why did the vet give her up if he/she was the owner? Or was she a foster for the vet?

Ya, I think i'll start her off with the quarter cup and see how she does. But I have gotten her some doggie treats and she will not eat them! And I got her a bone and she wouldn't touch it so i got her a beef flavored bone and she wont touch that either! What treats do you guys recommend?? And it truly is amazing how quickly she is adapting, but today on our walk she tripped and her little face fell in a puddle! She got right back up and kept going like nothing happend but it was sad to see. Also on our walk she kind of spit up or vomited? Im not sure but it was clear and kind of slimy and not very much maybe 2 tbs? Anyone experience that before? And Esee was a stray who was hit by a car and the vet (who also worked on her leg) was just holding onto her until she could find a home for her. She is a very nice woman and I plan to take Esee back to her for her checkups 🙂

Welcome!!!  You will find this place awesome for any info you need on owning a tripawd!!!  Congrats on your new family member, Esee is so beautiful!!!

The ingredient panel of Precise and Blue Buffalo are very similar, so you should have no problems transitioning over if you decide to go with Blue.  Transitioning should be two days of 3/4 of the old food & 1/4 of the new food, two days of 1/2 & 1/2, and two days of 3/4 of the new food and 1/4 of the old...you shouldn't need to do any longer than that since they are so similar.  Their feeding guidelines are quite similar as well...Precise recommends 1 - 2 cups per day for a 25 - 50 lb dog and Blue recommends 1 1/2 - 2 1/4 for a 26 - 40 lb dogs.  As mentioned by another member, the bag is always generous, so I would also recommend no more the 1/2 cup twice a day.  You want to keep your girl a little under weight to help prevent any future concerns 🙂

Good luck laughing

Thanks! I ended up getting her the blue buffalo natural chicken and brown rice recipe. So I took her to the dog park today and she was a little scared of the other dogs and wouldn't go farther than 10 feet of me! I plan on taking her more often to help build up her confidence a little bit. Do your guys' pups like the dog park?

a cute video...

Way cute! And interesting in how it appears she may be trying to fugure out why she can't hold the bone so easily anymore. But she'll figure it out! Just show her how Jerry did it...

Very cute!

Looks like she is doing the "I'm burying my bone" thing that our beagle, Bailey, and Abby used to both do. Anytime I gave either of them a rawhide or a "chewy" of some sort, they would run off with it - usually to the sofa or the bed - and "hide" it in the pillows or in the bend where the sofa seat meets the back. Then they would both do those same head maneuvers - like they were shoving imaginary dirt over the top of it. Then they would both trot off looking very pleased with where they'd "hidden" the treat - even though it was still sticking out in plain site. So funny!

Jackie, Angel Abby's (and Angel Bailey's) mom

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Maggie used to do that too! Sometimes she would wander all over the house whining while she looked for just the right place to 'bury' it. She would do the air bury maneuver and walk away confident that no one would ever find it.

Wow jerry was going to town on that bone! I can't get esee to chew on them. I've bought her a couple different kinds too! Whenever I try to give her one she will sniff it for half a second then go back to what she was doing before or push the away from her face lol.. Hopefully she will with time! And cometdog- that "dogbed" is actually my daughters Elmo couch that they never used and so they gave it to esee and she loves it! 🙂 oh and to keep people updated on the crate on the second night esee whined about half the time she did the first night then last night not one peep! I was proud of her. Except she was being a stinker because right before we went to bed my fiancé took his keys out of his pocket and esee LOVES to ride in the car and she was just convinced that we were goin on a ride. So when we tried to get her to go in her crate she would run down the stairs and wait by the front door and she ran up and down the stairs probably 8 times before she realized it was bedtime and we weren't going anywhere! Silly dog... But least she was nice and worn out for bed!

Welcome to Tripawds (sorry I'm so late!).  Esee is absolutely beautiful - and so are you for giving a loving home to a pup that might otherwise have been overlooked.  Tripawds are amazing and Esee will bring much joy into your lives.  I also love to see families with young kids who have a Tripawd.  I really think that it provides a wonderful lesson in how "different" can also be great and "not really all that different."  Good luck to you with your new family member!!!!!

Lisa and Zeus

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11.  A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...
