Carly Mia is a 154 pound 6 year old female Bull Mastiff who has recently been diagnosed with Osteosarcoma.  She has always had such a good spirit and when we noticed her limping on her front right leg, and saw she had a hard lump there, we immediately became concerned, thinking she hurt herself getting up into or down out of our bed. October 2, we took her back to the vet, where the vet examined her again, and this time, took an x-ray of the site. What he came in and told us was nothing I had ever expected.....he showed us the x-ray where it showed a tumor in that leg, and said that he was leaning towards the cancer diagnosis. I lost it. She sure didn't act like a dog with cancer! She had surgery- amputation of her front right leg October 12th,  2015. It's still early in her recovery but she is doing great adjusting.  We have finished her antibiotic, and one other medication. Now the only thing she takes regularly is Gabapentin for phantom limb pain which as worked wonders and Tramadol which we are weaning her off of. Thankful to have the support of so many others here!

As someone who has been owned by several Bull Mastiffs, We@come to the Tripawd family! I am currently owned by Bull Mastiff Merry Myrtle.

I KNOW how devastating the diagnosis was and then the emotions involved in making the decision. We understand here like no others can. We are all here ro support you and cheer Carly Mia on.

My Hapoy Hannah ( a somewhat "fluffy plus size model", had a rough recovery...more so from the surgery itself as opposed to adapting ro three legs. When her sparkle came back though...WOW! It was bigger and brighter than before!!

To be able to have extended quality time for more loving and spoiling and slobbery kisses was spectacular!! And as you know, there is.no greater pleasure than spoiling a Bull Mastiff who tries to take over your lap everytime you sit down...usually with a bit of drool dripping from their precious mug!

Post pictures when you can. Let us know if you have any questions, okay?

Sending lots of love and hugs!

Sally and My Eternal Light Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Aww bravo! Really glad to hear how well she's doing, if there's anything we can do just bark at us. Let's see some pics!

Also consider posting in "Size and Age Matters" too. We love sharing stories of big dogs on 3 legs, there are still too many vets out there who instantly dismiss them as candidates for amputation. Thank you for helping to change that.
