Hi everyone-I have Lola, a 6 yr old Newfoundland. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma on Feb 4th, to say it rocked our world would be putting it mildly (as you all know). She had her front left leg amputated on Feb 8th, so we are 2 wks out. She is scheduled for her first chemo session this Friday. I have to say I feel so much better after reading how many pups out there have handled their chemo so well, I was so nervous and scared for her. She is truly doing amazing on 3 legs, she hopped right out of that dr's office the next day and I was in awe as I continue to be everyday. She has 2 other Newfie siblings at home and I am having to hold her back, she is so anxious to get back to romping around with them. I am so glad our oncologist mentioned this site-you are all very brave and devoted parents to all these beautiful creatures-what a blessing!
Margaret, thanks for sharing Lola's story with us. Wow, a three-Newfie house? You're pawesome!
Lola's spunk and chutzpah will take her very far (and you have a great attitude yourself, so you'll both do great). We're glad to hear she's getting around so well. How are the siblings treating her? Have you noticed any difference?
We are totally curious...who's your oncologist? Please thank him/her for us!
P.S. My Mom and Dad are in Arizona for a few weeks (silly snowbirds). Are you by any chance near Tucson where we are? It would be fun to meet Lola in person!

Hi Lola and Margaret!
Me too, in love! I love newfoundlands! My boy is part newfie and so is Cooper. I am sorry for her diagnosis, but it sounds like she is doing really well.
I am curious, is she a 'talker'? What type of chemo are you going to do? I hope to see some pictures of her and her newfie family, I am a fan of this breed. How big is she? Welcome to this site, I found it helped me to read all of the stories. There was another pure bred newfie here named Oslo. There were some great video's of him. I watched them over and over in hopes that it would help me with my boy.

Thank you everyone for the support-I honestly never thought I'd write in, just read all your great stories and advice but here I am, just what I needed. We are certainly not alone and it has truly helped my wandering mind, so thank you! Lola's first chemo is in the morning, I just pray she tolerates it well. Her newfy siblings are treating her very well, they must wonder why the heck she isn't joining in on their fun but hopefully she will be right back with them soon. I will post more pics soon of Lola and let you all see the 3 of them too, I often ask what was I thinking? but I wouldn't trade them for the world, dog hair and all! Thanks again for allowing me to be a part of your journeys too!
