We got to bring Juneau home this morning.  She is walking around a bit, eating and drinking.  Our daughter is a little scared of the wound but was excited to see her walking around and taking treats.  Juneau is quite alert and wanting to jump on the couch, I have a feeling she will be a difficult patient, lol.  She even got a stitch out at the vet and had to get a couple staples in, so they sent us home with a cone for bedtime and when we leave her at the house.   She keeps wanting to lay on her left side...is that ok or will it pull out her stitches?

She is sitting when she pees will this get easier for her as she accommodates more?

YAAAAAAAAAY FOR JUNEAU!!!! No place like home!! Eating, drinking, peeing, walking...al great news!clap

No worries about taking her. "normal pee position".. For now, whatever works! She had a lot of surgery done and she's still on pain meds. In jer mind, she probably thinks she she is squatting!

As far as laying on her amp side, every dog is different. Most dogs, certainly not all, dont lay on the surgery side right away simply because it hurts! My Happy Hannah was FIVE WEEKS before she laid on her amp. side! And some dogs sleep on that side right away. So just let her do what works for her.

Let us know when she poop! We celebr anything around here! We love poop pawties!winker

Hugs!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

She'll be getting stronger by the day, you'll see. Our Wyatt Ray took a long time to build up strength in that remaining rear leg but he's strong now and she will be too 🙂

It's definitely OK to lay on the amp side. That's actually a great sign, many dogs won't do that for a few weeks. She's moving right along!

PS Keep that cone of shame on till those stitches come out. Dogs & Cats are so sneaky, they'll rip the stitches out the moment we're looking away. I know it's hard to see them with the cone but it's for the best.

She can get the cone off in a matter of seconds...what else can we use because she got a couple of the staples out the vet put in after she got some stitches out.  She is doing it at night while we are sleeping.  Has anyone tried using a shirt?  the 1 back leg through and arm hole and then tie the shirt so she cannot get her mouth the the stitches?

JUNEAU!! YOU STOP THAT! You Husky dogs are just too smart for your own good sometimes!

My Happy Hannah never bothered her stitches so I was very lucky.

I have seen where many members had the same issue and resorted to tee shirts. Others will chime in on that regard.

And am I reading this right? Juneau got STAPLES out? This is in addition to the stitches she got out earlier? What a gal!!! That kind of determination shows why she still acts like a puppy at her "age"!

Hugs to all!

T-shirts can help. We had to double-cone Wyatt. Not all vets carry this one but you can ask around:
