ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12. Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ! No side effects. We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments. He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors! Our love. Our funny little guy!
Katy,
I am sorry to hear that the RBC hasn't rebounded. Breathe deep. Don't panic yet. I know you are thinking the worse. It could be something else. Glad you are taking him to an internist. Keep us informed.

Liver issues: controlling altered enzymes with SAM-e and Milk Thistle. October 17: started having seizures. Taking fenobarbital for seizures. April 18: started prednisone.
Katy,
Sorry to hear this about Jackson, I was going to ask about his platelets.....Please try not to worry too much, (I know, easier said than done) I went through this with my Polly when she was younger. How is his RBC count? That is different than platelets and if they are normal, that is a better sign overall. But yes, an ultrasound is very much advised just to take a look. My Polly's platelets had plummeted to between 5,000 and 7,000....very scary time back then. Took many months to get everything back to normal because her course of treatment was strong steroids and antibiotics.....she was on 80 mg of steroids a day which brought her platelets back after a couple weeks, but raised her liver values through the roof, but also came down as we weaned the steroids lower and lower. My vet is even currently going through this with his own dog, and she is doing fine as well so far. This ITP can pop up at any time for any reason, and most times, you will never know the reason for it. We are here to help you through this, so don't forget that. I am feeling pretty positive for sweet Jackson to get through this fine.
I am keeping you and Jackson in my thoughts and prayers, keep us all posted,
Love,
Bonnie & Angel Polly, and new crew
