I just wanted to take a minute or two to introduce Phoenix. She is a 10 year old husky, lab, golden retriever mixed tripawd. She was diagnosed with cancer in September 2012 after she hurt her leg running around the yard playing with her tennis ball. She loves tennis balls. We are not exactly sure what kind of cancer she has. She was taken to a specialty hospital and they ran tests and said that it was cancer. The tests results basically ruled out osteosarcoma, but listed a couple others. The only one I remember is synovial cell sarcoma, but I don't remember what else was listed on the paperwork. Phoenix actually is my parents dog, but they don't come to this website, and I don't actually live with them. I am married and live an hour away from them, but Phoenix will forever be one of our family's dogs. I see Phoenix about every other weekend.
Phoenix had her leg amputated at the end of September 2012. She recovered well. Phoenix has arthritis, but seems to be doing well with that. Phoenix loves to play with tennis balls. She is enjoying the recent snowfall (see my avatar picture). She also loves swimming and I pray that she makes it to this summer so we can see how she does swimming with three legs. There were no noticeable mets in her x-rays or ultrasound images back in September.
I am glad to find this community and the support it provides. There are three other dogs in my immediate family. One lives at my parents house (Lexia a jack russel/dachsund), one is mine (Cassy a basenji/pitbull) and spends about half her time with me and half her time at my parents house, and the other (Izzy a border collie/lab) is my sisters . Shortly after Phoenix was diagnosed with cancer, my dog was diagnosed with Auto Immune Hemolytic Anemia, so I was hit with two difficult things in a short amount of time. Thankfully, Phoenix and my dog Cassy seem to be doing well right now. I also was able to find a support group for Cassy's condition.
I did start a blog on Phoenix that has pictures. There are more pictures of her there. The link is http://phoenixd.....pawds.com/
Welcome, your future forum posts will not require moderation. Phoenix loos like a sweetheart, we look forward to following her progress.

Below is a picture of the clan, when they all were at my parents house. I think this picture was taken around Christmas 2011, because Phoenix had all four legs. The little dog is Lexie, she also lives with Phoenix at this house. The red dog is Cassy (she is my dog). Cassy visits my parents house frequently, and stays there when my husband and I are gone on weekends. The white dog is my sisters and her husband's dog. Her name is Izzy. She visits frequently, since she only lives about ten minutes away. She also like to swim in the pool with Phoenix in the summer. Sorry that the image is blurry. It is the only picture of the whole clan that I could find readily available. There are a couple more pictures on Phoenix's blog of Cassy and one of the picture also has Lexie in it.
Now I'm really jealous, you have a fun pack there Phoenix!
Great pix, I'm so glad you shared here and in the blog.
