Hi everyone
I was last here back in January posting this thread
http://tripawds.....se/#p21378
Just to let you all know that Billy didn't require amputation and has gone on to make a really good recovery. His leg is probably about 90% functional without further surgery, his fur has grown back on his skin grafts and he's pretty much back to normal (if he could ever be described as such!). Thank you again for all your support and advice at the time, it was really helpful 🙂
Anyway, the reason I'm back is we appear to have acquired our own little tripod!! We lost one of our dogs in March very suddenly to cancer and had no intention of getting another (we still had 5 remaining!). But her best friend missed her terribly. They would play all the time and none of the other dogs were interested in playing. Then we spotted Penny in a local rescue. She is a collie/terrier cross, found in Ireland with a snare on her leg. Worse still they leg was gangrenous and she was in labour! Following an emergency amputation she went on to raise her one surviving pup and, since he went to his new home recently, she is now free to start her new life. Penny is just our sort of girl and loves a bit of rough housing so today she has come to stay for a two week trial to see how she fits in with the gang. So far, so good 😀
So I have a feeling I might be hanging around a bit, learning more about how we can help Penny adapt
Here's the all important pic

Penny is a cutie patootie! Thank you for giving her a chance. I bet she fits in just perfectly, and maybe will be the perfect playmate for the lonely pooch.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

She is a pretty Penny indeed! She will most likely adapt well as a tripawd since she doesn't have to battle cancer on top of it. Chloe is 2 months post amputation and goes up/down a flight of 15 stairs, plays with her squeakers and runs in the soft sand at the beach! I am sure Penny will surprise you at what she can do!
-Chloe's mom
Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog
What a great choice - thanks for opening your home & hearts to Penny!
Best of luck with her!
Zack, King of Dogs, 1996 to 2010
Zack lived a full 14 years, even to the end.
The joy and memories he provided us will last a lifetime.
Surviving him is his sister, Izzy, a 12-year-old boxer mix quadpawd.
And the latest addition, Zula, an 11-month-old pit bull mix tripawd.
Oh, she's so cute! What a wonderful girl - we hope she makes a great addition to your pack! Please keep us posted...
Best wishes, and lots of hugs,
Holly, Zuzu and Susan
Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!
