It amazes me how much this is effecting me and how I just can not shut my brain off. I myself do not feel very strong right now and navigating through this site and reading Jerry’s blog at least makes me feel not alone in what I am feeling.
My Zeus is my best friend too...he's been the constant in my life through the most difficult times I have faced and some of the most wonderful ones too. In my heart, I cannot imagine my life without him but in my head, I know the day with come when he's no longer here in body but I believe...truly believe that he will be with me always in spirit.
How do you not get affected by all this? It's impossible. It's so wonderful that we all have a place to come where we know that others understand...truly understand. Feel the feelings...let them out but try not to do that in front of Griffyn - Zeus mirrors my emotions no matter what they are and I'm certain Griffyn mirrors yours. Then...with all your might...live for the moment. There will be time for grieving.
My heart reaches out to yours - I feel your feelings as I read what you have to share. If you ever want to talk, my email is hkourcklas@comcast.net
Much love and many, many prayers.

Dear Becka and Griffyn, This is probably a longshot but I need to pass it on.
There are clinical trials under way for canine osteosacrcoma using the promising drug Rapamycin at the following universities:
University of Tennessee
Colorado State University
University of Missouri
University of Pennsylvania
University of Wisconsin
Ohio State University
University of Illinios
Tufts University
University of California-Davis
Cornell University
University of Florida
University of Georgia
North Carolina State University
Purdue University
I don't know if you are in the area of any of the universities listed. If you or any other tripawd friends are interested here is a link to the details of the studies. http://ccr.nci......trials.asp It is partially funded by Morris Animal Foundation's Canine Cancer Campaign, whom I do volunteer work for in Northern California.
My heart completely goes out to you. I lost my sweet Brenna to bone cancer in her pelvis Sept. 2007. Unfortunately, she was such a tough dog we had no indication she was effected until her pelvis shattered. I didn't even get to say good-bye. It has been over a year and I miss her horribly. She was the third dog I lost to cancer. I lost my Chocolate Lab, Cody to Hemangiosacroma in 2005.
I am now fighting back against canine cancer and that gives me much hope for the future. Progress is slowly being made. There is an early detection blood test coming out in 2009 for Hemangiosacroma (blood vessel cancer). Researchers are working on an early detection test for osteosacrcoma.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you both.
