My girl found her forever home this weekend. I wanted to keep her so bad. I wanted to give her the love she deserved. I wanted her to be a lifer instead of a foster. I had Bagheera for over a month. When I got her, she was in the worst shape a 8 week old puppy should be in. She had a open fracture in her rear leg and a horrible infection from waiting so long to bring her in. She literately was on Death's door, the owners were going to euthanize her because they couldn't afford the bill. I rescued her! The first night was scary. She was so lethargic and not eating, I thought she had given up. Fortunately, my girl has fight in her. The next day she ate small amounts and gradually over the next few days started chowing down. She was getting some spunk in her, running everywhere dragging her broken leg. We waited over a week till her amputation, I sent her x-rays to a specialist to see if we could piece the leg back together and to allow time for the antibiotics to kick in. Although, she had to go through with the surgery it still didn't hold her back. She was showing me again how much fight she had in her.

She went to her forever home this weekend. I hate them, I love them. They are absolutely perfect for her. However, a selfishness part of me wants it to fail. I miss my girl so much. I've cried so much because she's not with me anymore. My kids have cried, which makes me cry all the more. I want my Bagheera back. This is the worst thing about foster work. You get attached and you don't want to let go.

Bagheera went to her forever home this weekend. I gave this baby so much love. I gave this baby a forever home. I gave this baby a life! The BEST part of foster work.

Although, I'm no longer a pet owner of a Tripawd, I'll stay connected to this group. This group calmed my nerves and supported me in so many ways. Hopefully, I may can help others too! You are all amazing people!!!

Awe I can't even imagine how hard it is to give them up after the bond you build with them and the love you share.  You are so strong to be able to love them enough to let them go to their next new chapter of life.  You are an Angel!  Many hugs ((())) coming your way on this hard and emotional day!

Oh I can only imagine how hard that must be!!! You did so much for her and she will forever remember you! And finding her a perfect home was also part of that gift!!!

I am pretty sure this is why I could never be a foster ... all would be foster fails! LOL

Hugs and love!

Shelby Lynne; Jack Russell/Shiba Inu mix. Proud member of the April Angels of 2014.

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Ohhh, bless your heart. The mix of emotions involved must be really, really hard. To try and reconcile your happiness that Bagheera has a wonderful furever home...And to miss her and love her so much.

Is it possible to arrange to continue to see Bagheera on kcassion? I can't imagine that you wouldn't be able to do that. At the very least, pictures and videos! It would really be great if his "owners" joined us here on Tripawds. We could all follow his journey, along with you!

You are a Saint! To be able to open up your home and heart to another dog so they can have a chance at love....the ultimate act of selflessness and compassion and kindness. I have a feeling you may become the "go to foster" for any upcoming tripawds.

We look forward to staying connected and following you on all your foster adventures.

Love and light

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

The only words I have are " BLESS YOU!" To give a pup a chance at a happy life. I imagine it is terribly hard to give them up. You gave her a chance when everyone else had given up on her. That is a bond that time or distance can't sever. I agree with Sally, maybe some visits or photos. Know now that she will bring happiness to her new family that would not have been possible without you. Thinking of you, Lori, Ty and gang

TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed  and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
