So I congratulated Chance a little early on my blog but today is officially his 6 month Ampuversary. I'm so happy at how well he has done up until this point. He still remains "cancer free" (no mets). His resilience amazes me. His biggest issue right now is a newly diagnosed genetic skin disease. It causes skin inflammation which we never knew what the scars on his face and tail were from but now we know. We had the itching and licking under control up until a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, since starting the Cytoxan it has suppressed his immune system and the inflammation has come back with a vengeance causing a secondary skin infection. His face looks terrible and we have added 3 more meds to the growing list for this new problem. However, this doesn't bother Chance, therefore, it doesn't bother me! He does have to wear a cone at times to give his face a chance to heal, and so he doesn't lick or scratch the irritated areas.
Regardless of these setbacks, I am excited about the prognosis he has at this point and look forward to many more good days with my buddy. He is still continuing to show us what a fighter he is. I hope the next 6 months are just as good as the first 6!
Chance is a 10ish Shetland Sheepdog Mix who was rescued from the shelter in January of 2013 and diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in September of 2013. He had a front left amputation and 6 rounds of carboplatin. He had a great 11 months and was diagnosed with lung mets on 8/23/14. He was released to the bridge on 8/28/14.
Hoppy ampuversary, Chance! Here's to many, many more. Now....go ask your mom for CAKE!
Kathi and Murphy
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
The more celebrations the better, Hoppy Ampuversary Chance! You are a true Miracle Dawg.

Amy & Spirit Libby
Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13. Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14. She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self. Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14
Happy Happy! This is a big one! WAY to go!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
