Three months ago, our world came to a halt when we found out our baby had cancer. Now three months later, she's done with chemo–which she handled with flying colors!–and we've started Metronomic Protocol.
Besides a bit more noticeable breathing than before, Tika girl is in full fighting form, she's sassy, fussy, bossy and silly as ever. She makes me proud and she makes me humble.
She has taught her parents not to take anything for granted–we make sure we smile at each other and say 'I love you' everyday. I start my day with the big critters crawling into my lap like they were still puppies and we have a big group love session. After that, I can tackle anything the day brings my way!
Poor baby has the dubious honor of being nursemaid to mom and dad today since we both have contracted some nasty bacterial sinus infection. She keeps looking at us like we are wimps or something.
I hope everybody is doing well with their babies, or as well as they can be considering. I am listing what Tika is starting on below with her version of metronomic protocol, as well as diet for anybody who is interested.
Piroxicam 11mg - 1x daily (started this while still on chemo–we noticed a definite uptick in her energy level after starting)
Cyclophosphamide - 25 mg every 48 hours
Our oncologist is waiting to see how she reacts to this before starting with anything else.
She eats Innova EVO large breed (Tika says 2 paws up) 2x daily
Her favorite snack is Happy Hips Duck Breast Jerky w/ Glucosamine and Chondroitin (Tika says 3 paws up–would get 4 but….well you all know why!) They can be found a specialty pet stores or here www.dogswell.com.
Of course she gets all sorts of extra treats, mom's a cheese hound herself, so the girls know there's always some of that most awesome stuff in the fridge.
Positive thoughts to all of you, Tika sends big Malamute kisses to all!

That's the spirit! Some great lessons Tika has to teach there.
Thanks for this great update and sharing the details. Keep up the good work.
