This weekend we're celebrating Romeo's 10th Birthday (January 16th) and his 5th Month Ampuversary(August 17th)!!!!!! Almost ten years ago we adopted our sweet boy from the Humane Society in St Albans Vermont. He was a five and a half week old puppy found with his eight brothers in a barn. He was one of two golden colored boys in the litter, and while the others were wrestling or sleeping Romeo sat up and looked at us doing his adorable head tilt. He seemed to be choosing us. We had never had a dog before, didn't come from particularly dog friendly families, and to be honest we didn't know very much about dogs. We just knew we had always wanted one and we were ready to give a dog a loving home. Romeo has been our teacher. Everything we know about dogs (a lot about love and life) we've learned from him! He has been our baby, our best friend, our protector, our love. When Romeo was three and a half he became a big brother to a human sister. Lucky girl. Greta has the best friend, the dog I always wished for growing up. And all that love has come back to Romeo. The love and devotion Greta has shown to Romeo during his journey as a Tripawd is astounding. You won't find a prouder Tripawd family member! Greta tells everyone who will listen she has a Tripawd dog. She now draws all her animals with three legs!
Romeo is doing great, and he is pretty much living his pre-Tripawd life—–running, playing, chasing squirrels, loving the snow, hanging out at the barn, hogging the bed, eating anything he can. Since we decided not to do chemo, we also decided not to do regular x-rays. As far as we (and our vets) can tell, he is doing great and going strong! Friday Romeo had his monthly acupuncture treatment. When Romeo was diagnosed in late July, I was so afraid he wouldn't make it to Christmas or his tenth birthday. We are so thankful he is here with us, and no matter what else is going wrong in our lives we can say, "Romeo is here and he's doing great."
Romeo had a fresh marrow bone from the farmer's market yesterday and tonight he will have his cheeseburger with a birthday candle!
Unforunately Greta is sick so our big plans for an all out party and special hike in the woods or trip to the beach will have to wait until next weekend. But he's been having lots of fun with his good friend and next door neighbor Maizy. They know where the treats are in each other's houses! He went to the barn to feed the horses, ran around the park, visited his friend Smokey the barn cat (she has a big crush on him), and, yes, helped himself to some horse poop. Why is that so tasty?
Thanks so much to all of you for all your information, love, and support. Thank you to Jim, Rene, Spirit Jerry, and Wyatt Ray for everything. Where we would be without you? Everyday I'm thankful we saw Jerry's Story on Why We Love Cats and Dogs.
And thanks to Admin for the technical help as I try to improve Romeo's avatar, blog etc. He is very handsome and I need to get more pictures of him out there!
Welcome to all the new Tripawds and special shout-outs to our ampuversary mates Zoe (5 months on the 18th!), Rocky, Koda, and golden angel Jake. Did I miss anyone?

Yay Romeo! I have been wondering how you have been doing. (Lots of tripawds seem to be coming out of the woodwork this weekend.) Great to hear he and you are happy.
And I love your new avatar. Tazzie also has a pic that "flatters" (some might say exaggerates) his already rather lengthy probiscis. Maybe we will have to start a "Tripawds with Long Noses Club".
Wow, Happy Birthday and 5 Month Ampuversary Romoe !!! Enjoy your special day with your friends and that cheeseburger. Here is to many more Ampuversaries.

Yea for Romeo, Happy Ampuversary and the big 10th birthday, they are big causes for celebration! I'm so glad to hear he is doing well and loving life. Get your little sister well so you can have your part 2 of celebration.
Take care, glad to hear all is well up north,
Karin and Zoe
Eve Sylvia, Greta, and Romeo ,
It pleases us so very much that you are clearly celebrating each and every day you get to spend together. Clearly Romeo's return to an excellent quality of life is inspawration to each and every newbie who is facing such difficult decisions. Reaching a milestone as great as 5 months truly is a reason for a PAWRTY and while it may have been tuned-down a little, the details are great. Remember, a little Ice Cream is always welcome. We will be joining you vicariously in celebrating this wonderful milestone as well as a celebration of life for Remeo and all the great TriPawds, their families, and the touching relationships that have been shared in this community.
Like Greta, I too was pround to tell everyone who would listen the stroy of our beloved and brave TriPawds. I also found that once people heard their story and how bravely they have fought, people's pitty turned to admiration. Way to go Greta. I just hope that both Greta and Remeo have purple (the royal color) sweaters.
Wishes for many more ampuversaries and celebrations.

It's so great to hear from you buddy! Congratulations on these two big milestones. We're so glad to know that life is good and you and your pack sounds so hoppy!
And let me just say that we are better people and Tripawds because of you!
Hey, we'd love to see one of Greta's drawings of you. Tell your pawrents to scan one and post it here so the world can see how talented she is.
As for your life in Vermont, well let me just say that we are completely envious! Sounds like paradise to us.
