Hello!!! It has been forever since I've posted on Tripawds, although I dip in every once in a while to keep tabs. The cutie on the left in the photo below is my new pup, Finley. I'll post about him on Griffin's blog, but I wanted to share this story here.
Finley and I met a tripawd, Lily, in our neighborhood today. She is about a week out from her surgery, which was done at the same hospital (Animal Medical Center) as Griffin’s. She was with her uncle and grandmother basking in the sunshine.
Her uncle said that she was recovering well but had not yet attempted to get up or walk unassisted. I shared a bit about Griffin’s recovery and cautioned that each dog would follow their own timeline, especially since Lily is 13 years old. I urged them to join Tripawds and he said that AMC had also made that recommendation – which made me feel fantastic since AMC didn’t know about Tripawds before Griffin. 🎉
As we continued to chat and Finley played fetch, Miss Lily decided that hearing about Griffin’s story would inspire her to get up and walk not once but twice. Amazing! We exchanged phone numbers and hopefully we’ll get together this weekend so I can meet Lily’s mom. It feels so good to pay forward all the encouragement and support I received during Griffin’s tripawd journey!
I know it’s been a long time since I’ve connected with my Tripawds family. I hope that everyone is doing well! 🥰
Griffin lived an amazing life for 11 years! Diagnosed with osteosarcoma on March 17, 2020, Griffin's right forelimb was amputated on April 2, 2020. Ten days later he was running and playing fetch! Lung metastasis discovered in July 2020 did not slow down Griffin and he lived joyfully for the next 7 months, passing peacefully at home on February 11, 2021. https://griffin.tripawds.com
Oh Stacy! It's wonderful to jear from you, to meet Finley, to mret Lily AND to see all the ways Griffin continues to touch lives!!! The fact that you met that tripawd, that AMC mentioned Tripawds because of Griffin..and then for Lily to get up on her own and walk....SPECTULAR!! . Griffin's miraculous energy transcends all dimension and clearly showed up that day.
The picture of Finley is absolutely adorable. Cannot wait to hear more about this precious pup. And his name......anything to do with member Finn??
Stacy whether you are here on the site pr not, you are always "with" us and always connected. We were all soooo privileged to have been with you on Griffin's journey (and sweet Gracie's too) You were the epitome of hope and inspiration and what ot means to make every day the best day ever.
Hugs

Hello Sally! As promised, I posted an introduction to Finley on Griffin's blog. I've always loved the name Finley, it's a bit of a tribute to Griffin, and it means "fair haired courageous one", which seemed appropriate for his coloring
We met Lily's mom, Kim, today and spent a few hours talking. I was brought back to the weeks following Griffin's surgery when the world was shut down from Covid and Tripawds was a literal lifeline. I hope Kim posts on here soon so she can start benefitting from the incredible knowledge and support of the Tripawds family!

Stacy, welcome back! It's so good to hear from you, thank you for sharing this fantastic story, and thank you for being there for Lily's people. Paying it forward indeed! They found you at exactly the right time and I'm sure you brought them hope and comfort. That's neat that they went to AMC, such a great practice and such an honor that they refer folks here.
As for FINLEY....YAY! Congrats!!! What a cutie! I'm going over to your blog now. SUPER DUPER hoppy for you both!
