I have yoga mats and a little gate to confine her to one area and I have runner rugs over the wood floors of the path to the back door for potties. She got a hot pink shirt that we tried on before surgery. They are sending her home with a sling but I did cut a canvas bag to have as well. Also stocked up on broth and froze some of her favorite watermelon treats. I’m going to cook some rice and chicken tonight to have on hand too. Dr does rounds at 8am so I’m just waiting to see how she did overnight. When I called before bed they said she was alert but not really moving so they were going to try to get her up for first potty. I miss my girl! I’ve watched all the videos after surgery in the forums to prepare myself for picking her up and what I will see .
You are a GREAT Mom 😍
Fully prepared, yes, you are!
Let us know how she did overnight, we're waiting for Ember's update !

Dr. says she doesn't want to eat, go potty or get up and still out of it so they put a catheter in. She is not clear to come home yet so I'm heading in there this evening with some food and treats to visit with her and lift her spirits. I miss her so much and just want her home.
Kudos to your Vet for knowing what's best for your girl! It is not unusual at all for a pupper to stay at the clinic for several nights. And bigger, more "mature" puppets need lots of good rest as they shake off the hospital meds and come out of the fog.
You may, or may not, get a tail wag and a vit pf food down her, so don't let that alarm you. Just more evidence of good drugs.
Jist go in upbeat and pawsitive with all sorts of praise! Great healing power in that kind of attitude! Don't even bother looking at her incision. She just wants to see your smiling face telling her what a good job she is doing!
Update us when you can. And give her an extra smooch for us, okay?
Hugs

PS. Good job of prepping for her homecoming
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Aww hang in there. I hope your visit is just what she needs to feel good enough to start moving around. Let us know how it goes and remember, as much as it makes your heart ache to have her here, it is always better to be safe. She'll be home before you know it!

Got to sit with my girl Marlee for 2 1/2 hrs, she ate for me, I massaged her, told her how beautiful she is and we talked about how she needs to do all the right stuff so she can come home! Catheter still in but didn’t seem in pain so they have meds dialed in, she is such a brave girl! I’ll know more in the morning if she can come home tomorrow! Thank you all for encouragement and kind words, I can’t say enough how this community has helped me!

Marlee is home! Now all the new questions! Guess I better start reading! She hasn’t gone potty yet and been home for 3 hours, she got her night meds and is drinking good, not interested in her food but is eating treats. Baby hops I know, I’m just so happy to have her home!
Hi Ember and Marlee 🌸🐾
I’ve been switching your names, just noticed 😆
So glad Marlee is back into your loving arms, at home where she belongs 💓
Don’t worry about pooping that may take a few days, my girl took 5 or 6 days to go but when she had to go, she did!
Good she is drinking, as for eating it is normal our babies loose apetite during recovery so get your apron on 👩🏼🍳 and prepare anything and everything that may interest her 😛
She needs tons of rest and drugs on time and before you know it recovery will be behind you.
Hugs and cuddles 😘🐮💫✨🌟🌹

YAAAAAAAAY FOR MARLEE!!!😁😁
Hopping some?? YAAAAAAAAY!!😁
Drinking?? YAAAAAAAAY!! 😁
Eating treats?? YAAAAAAAAY 😁
Marlee is a ROCK STAR❤
As Teresa said, poop will happen. Appetite will pick up in time. For now, feed her any yummy food she'll eat. Just keep tabs on when she pees.. Sometimes that's delayed too.
So happy she's home! Stay connected. We'll help you navigate through this.

She peed at 4 am and even got up on her own in the xpen to make her circle and lay down more comfortably. Also when I was in the kitchen prepping pills and breakfast treats she hopped in there when I wasn’t looking! We are both going to nap now! Thanks everyone for pawsitive thoughts! I’ll update more later hopefully more good!
WHOOOHOOOO! This is pawgress, what a terrific way to start the day. Hope you are having a restful snooze!

HI Ember, just reading your story and wanted to add our encouragement! Our mastiff is one month out from his front leg amputation and he's back to being his sassy self, even getting up on the couch. I had to laugh at Marlee following you into the kitchen when you weren't looking, that's too funny. We had a golden who lived to be fifteen, they are such great dogs. Best of luck with recovery...it really does go quickly.
Thanks everyone! Still moving right along, she pees regular, eats, drinks and first teeny poop today!! She was eager this morning to get up and get to her water dish and took a little tumble when I opened her pen but I did a compress and laid with her and explained to slow down a little! We are going to keep encouraging her, she does not like being stuck in the pen and wants to follow us around but we gotta keep her safe! Going to try and upload a video next.
