To bring you up to date - GiGi our 9+ year old Doberman was diagnosed with OS in her left front ankle on 01/22/12
After consulting with a friends son who is a vet. Surgeon we decided to amp. His advice was to do it quickly. I believe this was excellent advice.
The Amp was done on 02/07/12. She recovered with no complications and started Chemo about 14 days after amp.
She finished her 5th and final chemo about 3 weeks ago. She had no reactions to the chemo.
Today we went in for a chest X-ray. I really wasn't sure I wanted to know if there were mets.
YeeeeeeeeeHaaaaaaaaa. The x-rays were CLEAR.
We will X-ray again in 2 months.
We live each day for Quality and don't worry about Quantity.
Thanks to this forum for helping get us this Farr.
I'll post pictures if I can ever figure out how.
What a pawesome update!! Nothing like the dread of waiting for those xray results, but what great news that they were clear! You definitely have the right attitude - it is certainly about the quality!!
All the best to GiGi; hope she continues to kick cancer's butt. (There is a link here somewhere about how to post photos... Hopefully one of the moderators will post it. But, basically you need to have them online elsewhere first - your blog, or facebook or photobucket, etc. Then you get the URL for the photo - and insert that URL in when you click on the tree icon that shows up at the top of a post when you are writing it up. That's probably clear as mud...)
Jackie, angel Abby's mom
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Wooo hoooo and yeeeeee haaaaaaw indeed! This is terrific news, congratulations! May she have lots and lots and lots of good times ahead.
Here is info about adding images to your post. We would absolutely love to see photos of your GiGi! Thanks for the update.
