A better way to say it might be, Forits thinks he can levitate! This has started to happen on a much more frequent basis now that I am using the "Help Em Up" harness. Since Fortis' surgery almost 3 months ago he has continually tried to lift his remaining leg in an attempt to pee. Needless to say he never had much luck. I'm almost ashamed to say though that I really got a kick out of watching him try. Well now the laugh is on me. Since getting the new harness he just lifts his good leg knowing I suppose that I'm supporting him. Or maybe he really does think he is levitating. I don't know. All I do know is that he lifts his leg, I hold him up and he pees. He pees on my pants, he pees on my feet, he pees everywhere!!!!! Let me tell you when he has finished marking his spots including me he is one fired up dog. So so very proud he seems. It's OK with me. I'm just happy to see him happy. Thanks for letting me share my funny (to me anyhow) story.
Tripawds Rock,
Fortis' Dad
HA, HA, HA, Fortis you are such a talented boy!!!
Thanks for the laugh, that is a great visual and an adorable story. 🙂

Maggie lost her battle with kidney disease on 8-24-13
Oh that it sooooo great. I can see why you're loathe to let him down (figuratively and literally) despite the straying pee.
Gerry has been a tripawd since 12/16/2009.
He was a shelter dog with a mysterious past and an irrepairable knee injury.
Videos and pics of Gerry's pawesomeness can be found at: http://gerry.tripawds.com
You'll have to invest in a pair of waders!
HAHAHAHAHA!
Oh Fortis - you are still in the running for the "HAM IT UP" award!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
That is too funny! I got an image of what it must look like in my head... Ya think someone can videotape Fortis levitating and peeing on you next time? I'm sure that would give us all a good laugh! So glad to hear he's doing well...
Angel Jake's Mom
Jake, 10yr old golden retriever (fractured his front right leg on 9/1, bone biopsy revealed osteosarcoma on 9/10, amputation on 9/17) and his family Marguerite, Jacques and Wolfie, 5yr old german shepherd and the newest addition to the family, Nala, a 7mth old Bengal mix kittie. Jake lost his battle on 11/9/2009, almost 8 weeks after his surgery. We will never forget our sweet golden angel… http://jakesjou.....ipawds.com ….. CANCER SUCKS!
I will be taking a video of Fortis with his Help em' Up harness on in the near future (this is a prototype that enables males to urinate while wearing the harness). I will try to get Fortis levitating for you guys on video at the same time. I'll take the video as my wife demonstrates the use of the harness and Fortis' levitating abilities.
Funny thing is, my wife was the one that got peed on tonight! She's not laughing now. Wanting to laugh myself, I just said good boy Fortis! I'm in the dog house now needless to say.
On a more serious note. I think the reason Fortis is determined to lift his remaining rear leg is that it causes him less discomfort. He really torques his body when peeing. His remaining leg gave out on him about two weeks after his surgery and I think it might be causing him pain when attempting to urinate. This is why I don't fight his efforts and just support his rear. What the heck, it's sandals and shorts here in Texas and I have a hose out back!
My thoughts and prayers are with you all,
Fortis' Dad
You guys are really good pawrents to take on the pee for Fortus' comfort. Yea tripawd pawrents!!

It has been great to hear from you this week. Do you hear us cheering you on?!? You have such fantastic parents, but it sounds like it is good it is shorts weather in Texas and not winter in Winnipeg. Frozen dog pee, hmm, that would be something. On the other hand, a pair of rain pants might not be a bad idea. Maybe your mom wants to try that one.

Hey Brett, yes indeed we are so hoppy to hear from you! Any chance we might get to meet you this weekend in Katy?

As much as I would love to I don't think Fortis would handle the drive very well. He also tends to get a bit crazy around his own kind whether they be tri or quad! He plays really rough. It seems his knee is holding in there but then again I'm always supporting him when he is standing. Fortis can just about stand on his own now but I figure the less stress on the knee the better. I don't know, I'm probably over doing it. He hasn't been left alone since his diagnosis back in January. Don't get me wrong he gets to play and have fun but someone is always supporting his pelvis via the harness. When he's ready to get up he gives you the look. He knows..........I guess I'm just really scared about what I will have to do when his leg totally gives out. so I baby him really really baby him.
I really appreciate you guys including us. I hopeyou understand. Oh, this is our secret Fortis wouldn't like missing out on the fun!
Thanks,
Brett
