Okay, just one more (blame Sally...), but you mentioned Jake likes digging....
Ruby, Staffy, born June 2022, became a Tripawd, November 2023, adopted January 2024.
Also Angel Tripawd Meg (aka The Megastar), who died in April 2023, aged 14, after seven glorious years on three, and Angel Staffies Elsie Pie and Bille. In the pawprints of giants...
Thank you so much Clare for the videos of Meg!! So unbelievably awesome! I cried as I watched it, because of Meg and because of you sending this and the beauty of this website to help!! I also thank everyone else that has responded. I will check out the steps for the bed. Patricia and Arktik, we can follow each others journey....Good luck! I thank Sally for asking Clare to respond. I am in awe (:
To see Meg was amazing. I will switch the 3 paws to a picture of Jake once I figure out how to. To see Meg digging, playing with her tennis ball, swimming was beautiful. Jake LOVES digging and tennis ballls. He goes bezerk when he sees a tennis ball! I have such hope now that life will be wonderful for Jake. Putting the videos to music was beautiful, thank you for sending them to me so much.
Please tell what harness to get with the handle. I need one! Should I do Amazon prime to get it right away or through the website. I want to support Tripawds because I am taken aback with it's existence and how I know my strength will come from all of you.
Awwww, I'm so pleased! Now you've got me tearing up as well. This is truly an amazing resource, full of wonderful people. I had been advised by a leading orthopaedic surgeon that Meg would not be able to manage on three legs (she has some serious orthopaedic issues). Were it not for this website and the amazing kindness and support of the community, I probably never would have had the confidence to give her a chance. I'm so glad I did, and so enormously thankful for the encouragement I received. If our videos can help reassure you and Jake then that's just so rewarding and in time you will be posting your own videos and giving hope to somebody else.
The harness is a Ruffwear webmaster one it has been a godsend. (I actually wish I'd had one with a handle for grabbing hold of Meg years ago!) I believe you can get one through Amazon smile and Tripawds gets a donation? I'm in the UK, so its a bit different here, but I'm sure one of our US members can point you in the right direction.
Can't wait to see the pic of Jake!

Hi. I'm Stacy - mama to Griffin the goldendoodle whose front right leg was amputated 2 days ago (osteosarcoma). You can follow Griffin's Journey to learn more about his story. I purchased the Ruffwear Webmaster prior to his surgery to make sure it would work for him and it seems fantastic. Since everything is taking longer to ship from Amazon, you might want to consider ordering directly from the Ruffwear website. When you sign up, they will send you a promo code for free shipping.
I am so glad we are all here to support one another! I can't wait to see how great Jake and Arktik do - I'm rooting hard for them and their families!
Griffin lived an amazing life for 11 years! Diagnosed with osteosarcoma on March 17, 2020, Griffin's right forelimb was amputated on April 2, 2020. Ten days later he was running and playing fetch! Lung metastasis discovered in July 2020 did not slow down Griffin and he lived joyfully for the next 7 months, passing peacefully at home on February 11, 2021. https://griffin.tripawds.com
Hi Stacy! I just read about you and Griffin this morning. Griffin is a doll! I am so glad everything went well and your lovebug is home! I will order directly from the site as you mentioned, today.
I feel the same about Tripawds...so amazing to have each other. I will post pictures and updates of Jake also. Thanks for sharing Griffin and your journey. It means so much to me (:
I know we usually refer to our dogs, but what is your name, Jake's parent?
Another gear tip I received was in purchasing a firm bed. I had bought a memory foam bed for Griffin years ago, but it was just a large rectangle and he didn't seem into it, so I wound up using it as a platform underneath the squishy bed he had since he was a puppy just to offer more support. Griffin generally prefers the hardwood floors, but with the surgery coming up, I wanted to give it a shot to find a bed that he might enjoy. I purchased this Furhaven Cooling Gel Bolster Bed from Chewy and he loves it! I think having the sides is really comforting to him and post surgery, I have seen him using the sides to boost himself up. The photo below was taken this morning.

My name is Connie. Griffin seems so cozy and comfortable. I think I'll get one of those beds. I also like the little halter he's wearing. Does that replace that big, bulky plastic cone? Did you buy it or did he come home with it?
I'm so glad Griffin is doing well! Thanks, Stacy for all of your tips. Stay safe!
Hi Connie! Griffin is sporting a neck gaiter. In February he had a growth removed from his neck and I wanted something that would cover the stitches while he was at doggie daycare. The ones I bought were on Amazon but are no longer available (I think many people are using them as face masks), but these fashion scarves look the same as the pack I bought. The fabric is soft and stretchy, and keeps his incision covered so that he doesn't have to wear the cone. I like that I have a bunch so I can put a clean one on him each day. They are also super useful in keeping an ice pack on his incision, which we will be doing a few times a day for the next couple of days. I hope this is helpful!

Should I do Amazon prime to get it right away or through the website. I want to support Tripawds ...
Amzon Prime has implemented priority shipping policies due do COVID-19, putting an emphasis on delivery of essential products, with all other items taking longer to ship.
Please also consider the following before expediting delivery:
We recommend not using the harness until the surgery has completely healed and stitches or staples are removed. We have heard of no specific cases where any harness has hampered healing, but we believe direct pressure from the straps may irritate the wound. Please consult your veterinarian with any concerns.
We suggest using a soft towel slung under the belly if additional support is required in the meantime. A reusable canvas shopping bag slit down the sides also makes a handy temporary sling. Find DIY Dog Sling instructions here.

Find the Amazon Smile link on the Tripawds Foundation site. FYI: The donation percentage of sales, is much less than the affiliate commissions that help keep this site online. For complete details, please see Amazon Smile Program vs. Affiliate Links
When shopping Amazon, start your search here to support Tripawds. Links are available for Amazon, Amazon UK and Amazon CA.
