I can't even begin to list all of the emotions I was dealing with when I came to this site a little more than a year ago... anger, devastation, grief, you name it.
Today, I'm overwhelmed with happiness that I've had yet another year with my aging but otherwise healthy Leonberger.
The recovery was tough, but Feebs met every challenge with determination. Her daily walks through the woods with my brother-in-law are a bit shorter than they used to be... but she never, ever gives up.
I can honestly say that she has taught us more about love, loyalty, courage, strength and unfathomable perseverance than we could have ever hoped to learn from the humans in our lives.
We're now cautiously optimistic that our next milestone will be a gray muzzle celebration when she turns 12 next February.
Congrats on such a HUGE milestone!!! One year is a great one!!! And happy almost birthday to your baby!!! Grey muzzles are the best!
So happy for you!
Hugs!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
How wonderful! Â Happy tremendous milestone 1 year ampuversary, Feebs! Â Rooting for that next milestone, too! Â

On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly. Â His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.
Hoppy Ampuversary. Here is to many more

OK let me get this straight: she's ELEVEN and a Leonburger?? Oh my DOG what a pawesome story of hope, courage and love! I'm thrilled for both of you. Feebs' story is proof that the definition of who's a good candidate for amputation surgery and who isn't all depends on the dog and the human. You two ROCK!
