Hooray for Dannyboy! I could tell that once he caught his frisbee, he didn't want to let it go!! Hope he continues to be energetic through chemo!
-Chloe's mom
Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog
What a beautiful boy! So happy to have his frisbee. Hope he continues to do well through chemo.

That is amazing, Dannyboy is doing so well! I think he and my boy are on the same schedule. My boy got his 2nd chemo friday and isn't faring nearly as well. I am so glad to see your puppy running and jumping. Is he eating okay too? Are you doing Carboplatin?

Love Never Ends
Thanks for the encouraging post Elizabeth and all. Our Oncologist Vet put him on a 4 round chemo protocol. He his first round was Carboplatin, 2nd was Doxorubicin, 3rd will be Carbo again, then hopefully the last, will be Doxo again. She also put him on a metronomics daily. Initially it was Doxycycline and Pyroxicam. He threw up his food within minutes of the first two days on it so the Vet held back the Piroxicam for now and he just takes one Doxy pill in the morning. She said she'd like to try adding the Pyro back in again in a week or two. I'm leary of it but will try as she suggests...but if he hurls again...forget it, he's not getting it. This last round of doxorubicin chemo has given him diarhea as she said it would...hopefully he will get over that in the next few days. We changed his diet immediately to Evo mix dry and canned Chicken & Turkey (no grain). He will only eat it if we hand feed it to him so he's being spoiled and eats what he wants then turns his head. We supplement that with a baked chicken breast to get him started. This new diet has very gassy effects though and I'm not sure I can survive 🙂
We're realistic about DannyBoy's prognosis and are enjoying the quality time we have with him while we can. Here's to hoping our cancer fighters hang in there for months and hopefully more!
DannyBoy turned 8 on May 25th 2010
DannyBoy was diagnosed with osteosarcoma of the front left leg August 10, 2010
DannyBoy's amputation was August 20, 2010
Oh, I DO know about the "gassy effects", lol! It is the silent ones, peeling paint, eroding floors, oh yeah, I know...
Sammy is on the same diet, it seems to work well for him. Right now, right after the chemo all he wants is the dog bisquets that were given as a gift from JD's mom. I managed to get an anti-nausea pill in him this morning, so hopefully that will improve. I will try some chicken breasts and see if I can encourage him with a little hand feeding. Thanks for the tip.
I just read about "Cali" the huskey who is 3 years cancer free!! I was starting to wonder if there really was any who had beaten this. Her story is giving me hope. You are right about enjoying these moments, we hope you have many many more of them. Keep up the good fight DannyBoy and family!

Wonderful! He looks so hoppy!
You're making my pawrents jealous, they can't wait to go back to the Hill Country this winter!
We've been wondering how he was doing and what you chose for chemo. Sounds like he's on a good protocol.
If the peroxicam makes him sick, what about asking your vet to try Metacam? It's a milder NSAID from what I know and it didn't make me hurl.
Good luck this week, we hope his stomach stays in top form! Keep us posted.

That's fantastic to see Dannyboy in action again! He looks like an all-star to me and hasn't missed a beat!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
