Yep. He ate again tonight. He also at some this morning. This wasn't chemo related, as he stopped eating regularly before his first does. Hopefully he keeps it up, as he has his second dose next week.

That is wonderful news! I am so glad he is finding his appetitesp_hearticon2  Is this a stew like a beef stew? Something you can freeze in little containers or freezer bags and then you have an arsenal of goodies that won't go bad on you. I have done that before with good lucksmiley10

I have no doubt all of that TLC that he is getting his helping him too. Grief is a bear, I have always found it to be even worse with my furbabies. And it is scarier because you don't know what to do to "specifically" to help them, but your love is doing that.

He is a good boy.

It's just human canned stew. I use about a third of it per meal, sometimes less. It saves fine with a can topper. He'll eventually get bored of this, and we'll have to move on to something else. Canned tuna has helped in the past. I may also have to cook some rice. I'm hoping he just goes back to eating normally again, but I know that may not happen. His whole life, I just put his plain kibble down, and he ate it. Grief is rough on all of us.

yeah, grief is tough....my senior Westie has always been a picky eater, and this has just gotten worse as he ages. Now I think it's boiled down to him being spoiled rotten. He just wants to eat treats. And Nitro pre-cancer would always just eat his kibble no problem; after surgery he was super picky for the remainder of his years - I think he also became spoiled beyond belief. (although at the end, his kidney failure contributed greatly to his not eating). I guess I'm saying, don't be surprised if Czar's eating habits don't return to what used to be normal for him. Sometimes it just is what it is, and we deal.

Paula and Warrior Angel Nitro

Nitro 11 1/2  yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms.  Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"

If he's finicky from here on out, I'll be fine with it. I just want him with me, picky food preferences and all.

I talked with my boss, and she's fine with bringing puppies into the office. Now, she needs to run it by the main boss. I hope she okays it. It's only for 6 weeks. I probably won't know until next week.

Fingers and everything else crossed for you sp_hearticon2 And yeah.. Bo is a healthy young dog and my husband was so used to feeding Mitchell and begging him to eat that he thought it was torture to give Bo just plain dog food... needless to say you know what path I am going down here, right? smiley5

Its ok, I just try to keep it healthy and not so fattening... those Aussies get quite voluptuous hips!! icon_lol I feel like I have a twin now icon_lolicon_lol

Thank you. Yes, I've seen some rotund Aussies over the years. Just makes the butt wiggle endearing. Thankfully, I'll be the only one feeding the puppies. Until their first overnight with my parents. Then my Dad will do what he's done since he was a kid, and feed them whatever he wants. My Mom gave up on that decades ago. Czar ate again last night, and half his breakfast. I still have to add things in, but I don't really care. As long as he eats.

YAY for more eating! That's awesome news. I hope Czar continues on the upswing for a normal appetite again. Hmm, maybe he's been waiting for your Dad to show up and feed him naughty foods?! Sweet boy. Sounds like his heart is healing day by day.Give him extra lovin' from us.

Paws & fingers crossed that the head honcho lets you bring the puppies to the office!

He's still seeing my parents a lot, so I know he's getting treats. Thanks. I think they talked about it today, so hopefully I hear good news soon.

Lol... your parents description is the same!! I gave up,  well not really,  lol. I put a measuring cup in Bo's dry food container to try and offset things.  I did explain hip problems and with Mitchell as example he's lightened up on the quantity of table scraps.  I totally love Bo's wiggle when he walks😂😂 he's done that from the beginning💖

Yay for eating! You know he knows he's got you wrapped around his handsome paw but honestly,  it doesn't matter.  As long as he's thriving that's what counts.

I hope you get a pawsitive answer.... we all gotta send puppy vibes your way😁😁😁

Hugs❤❤❤

I got a small container, with a flip top. I put the measuring cup in the container. My Dad pours around it... Oh well. He's helped so much I can't really harp at him. My Mom is vigilant, so at least there's that. I'm pretty attached to the litter already. I won't know which puppies are mine until they're evaluated by a behavior specialist the day before pickup. They want to make sure the right pups go to the best home for all involved. There's a grey puppy with white tipped toes, and a white chest stripe, both just like Riot had. So I hope I match with him. I'm still hopeful. I haven't heard no.

Ok, you're killin' me here....GSD's? What kind of puppies? Riot was a mix if i remember correctly?  I have wanted to ask but was afraid to.

With you worrying about Czar's appetite,  unless he starts really bulking up I wouldn't worry.  Right now you're worrying about his lack of appetite... maybe papa has the magic touch❤ We'll talk lower calorie treats to console papa if he starts adding too much bulk to your gorgeous tripawd.

In my heart of hearts I know Riot will pick the right pups. No worrying mama, it will take care of itself.  This litter or next.  Remember.... if its not this one it wasn't meant to be.  I learned a while back that sometimes no isn't a bad thing.  When the timing is right it will happen... and Czar will be in the middle of all this puppy schooling. 💖💖💖

Yes, Riot was a GSD/Malamute mix. The puppies are Shiloh Shepherds. A relatively new breed. It's been recognized since the 70's, and an official rare breed since the 90's.

So far, Czar hasn't really lost any weight. He just moves even less when he doesn't eat. With chemo next week, I want him to been in the best place possible. I got several healthy treats so when Czar is with my parents, they can still feed him. He spends most days with them when I'm at work now. I don't want him to be alone.

I have never heard of them. I will look them up 😊

You take such good care of Czar, and it's really wonderful that he gets to spend time with his grandpawrents when you're working💖

Keeping everything crossed for a good treatment coming up.  I know you probably don't see it but you really do a phenomenal job with him🤗🤗🤗
