Hi everyone! My lovely and amazing Clyde is officially 2 years post amputation! As some of you know, he had some issues a couple of months ago (stomach surgery to remove a foreign body and then a vestibular event, both unrelated to his cancer) and he's fully recovered from those too.
I can't believe its been two years, and I can't believe how very lucky I am to still have him here. He's a happy, healthy tripawd. For those that don't know Clyde, he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma two years ago, and is a right front amputee. I did not do chemo for a couple of reasons, primarily the cost but also because Clyde isn't a huge fan of the vet. So all I've been doing is giving him K9 Immunity Plus and I give him a higher protein diet than he used to eat.
He's slowed down but he is now pushing 12! Never, ever thought we'd make it this far My vet calls him the miracle dog; all of the vets we met during his two medical emergencies questioned whether he really had osteo or not because they couldn't believe he's lasted this long! Ha! He's teaching all of them a thing or two.
So - my advice for anyone starting this journey is to just take it one day at a time, as everyone here says. Enjoy every day with your tripawd! Clyde and I are going to go outside now and enjoy some sunshine, and he'll do his "rolly pollys" on the lawn; that's his very favorite thing these days.
Thanks to everyone here for all the encouragement and advice and just being here when I needed you! Here's hoping I get even more time with my boy (I'm greedy, I know) and here's hoping that all of you on this journey are as lucky as I have been! I'll add some pictures but I want him to get a nice bath first
