It has been a while since I posted any update on Trouble, so here goes. Monday was her LAST chemo, Yea! She has done surprisingly well. She adapted to the surgery like a champ and hasn't looked back. The chemo took her back a couple of days for each treatment, she was tired, weak, and a bit nautious, but it only lasted 12-24 hours and she was back to her normal self. Her vet told me on Monday, she is just an amazing dog. While he was prepping her for chemo, ready to administer the injection, she reached over and licked his hand. He was touched, as was I. She has such spirit and trust.
She began her journey with surgery the day before Thanksgiving, and started chemo in early December. She hasn't altered her lifestyle one bit (except maybe she's a bit calmer) and for that I am thankful. I would make the decisions I've made to this point over again in a heartbeat. We've given her 4 exceptional months, and given ourselves precious time with her we may not have had. I can only hope our luck continues for a long time to come.
She goes in on Monday for her post chemo CBC and then about three weeks later for x-rays. I'm sure I'll be anxious until we have the results of the rads, but we're very positive and have no reason to believe the outcome will be anything less than perfect. Today she is going on an outing with us. Going to visit her diagnosing vet, and on an errand running mission. She loves to ride! We may even do McDonalds for her.
I left the vet with multiple questions about supplements, diet, etc. for going forward and hopefully will hear from him in the next couple of days. He was going to do some research and consulting with the oncologist. I don't recall if I mentioned in the past, we didn't want to subject our sweetheart to a long car ride (3+ hours) while fighting the effects of chemo, so this wonderful vet agreed to consult with the oncologist and administer the chemo locally.
Oh, and I almost forgot, she has gone from 69.9 lbs to 57 lbs. She looks great and has to feel better with those extra lbs out of the way. I'll post a pic or two later.
We welcome the new 'maintenance' phase of the journey, and hope to remain in this phase for a long, long, time to come. This forum has been a godsend for me. The many strong and wonderful folks sharing their journey has kept me strong. Bless you all and your wonderful tripawds.

What a wonderful feeling to be done with the chemo phase of treatment, congratulations to you and Trouble. (by the way my favorite stuffed toy growing up was a dog named Troubles!)
I know you must be anxious about the follow up X-rays, it is so difficult to balance the hope for the future with the reality of what we all face with this darn cancer. I will be thinking good thoughts for your boy.
