The vet came today to give Cali a checkup from her lar-par tie-back surgery she had about a month ago.  While she was here, she noticed a small lump on on of Cali's hind legs that she thought was suspicious.  We did a needle aspirate and will get results back after the new year, but in the meantime, I am terribly worried that this might be another sarcoma.  After her amputation, the vets did not find any sign of mets from the initial sarcoma, and it was my understanding that the soft tissue sarcomas don't metastasise too quickly, so I thought we would be in the clear....

Please keep your paws crossed for good news from the lab.

TC & Cali:

We will be thinking positive thoughts for a good outcome of this! Hopefully, it's just a little fatty thing.

I had a greyhound that had LP and a tie-back, makes a totally different dog out of them, doesn't it? How old is Cali? My Runz was 11.5 when he had his. He lived to almost make it to 14 (5 days short).

Pawsitive energy your way and lots of puppy prayers...hope you're managing OK until you get the results. Zeus has several fatty lumps on him, all of which have been aspirated at least twice now! It's common for his breed and age (Golden Retriever - almost 11 years old)...hopefully they are just some fatty lumpy thingies.

Please keep us posted ok?

Thanks for all the good thoughts, everyone.

Cali will be 13 in March, but don't tell her she is an old lady!!  She would prefer to lie about her age and say she was still 9.....

We are hoping for a fatty lump or something boring and benign.  Should hear back from the vet tomorrow.

Hi TC & Cali,

I certainly hope it is just some sort of fatty lump and not sarcoma.  We will be keeping our fingers and paws crossed and praying for good news.  Please keep up posted.

Hey everyone-

Good news!!  The preliminary lab report is that there were no cancer cells found in the sample - some fatty tissues, but likely not a recurrance of the sarcoma.  We sent a second sample off for a more detailed eval, so should hear back on that soon.  But it sounds like GOOD NEWS!!!

We celebrated with a nice long walk in the snow.

Thanks for all the good vibes - I have just come to cringe at any lump that shows up.
