Hello All,
Buster comes home this Sun morning. I went to visit him today at the hospital. They wheeled him down in a gurney, since he was afraid of the slippery hospital floors. Once outside, he was amazing wanting to gallop about & I had to hold him back. He still hasn't eaten even though i brought all his favorite foods. Another issue is since he is a male dog, he wouldn't pee, I think it's because he can't balance himself right now. Hope he figures it out. BTW someone had asked if he was in an accident... i just replied, cancer.
Also, someone suggested putting a t-shirt on him to keep the staples from getting caught?? Any suggestions? I spent the night preparing by washing all of his bedding and covering any exposed hard wood flooring to prevent slipping.
Having a hard time sleeping with out my Buster. Can't wait to pick him up & have him home. = Separation Anxiety! Will post some post amputation picks soon.

Hi Buster by now I am sure that you are home and feeling happy. I wish you a speedy recovery . My pawrents did buy me some t-shirts to keep the staples from catching on anything and also from the dirt when I go outside and lay down to get some sunshine. It also helps me from my two 4 legged brothers when they just want to sniff and sniff my scar. Take care my friend.

Don't worry kim. Buster will get the whole peeing thing down soon enough. It's just a bit awkward at first.
It will take a few days for him to find his comfort zone, and maybe a few weeks until he starts bouncing back to his usual self. Just be patient.
Isn't it funny how peopl act when you tell them your dog has cancer? I think its funny peculiar, not funny ha, ha ...

Thank you, I am really happy with the way the picture turned out. I also had some family pics taken with him. It will be 5 months soon, since the amputation. He has improved in strength and I feel he is back to his old self. His appetite lately is ferocious... He will remain on a Jennies raw, cooked chicken, and additional supplements diet. I really see a difference since the change in diet and attribute it to his recovery and improved immune system.
Thank you Jerry for posting the new picture of Buster!!

Kim, that's great news. I'm telling ya, diet is key to a good recovery.
But tell us, what is a "Jennies" raw diet? Forgive me if you've mentioned it before but I'd love to hear more about it in the "Eating Healthy" Forum, if you wouldn't mind starting a thread there. Lemme know!
xoxo
