I just lost my Bud (Buddy) yesterday. He had Osteosarcoma in his hind leg and in his spine.l. I had 1.5 weeks with him from diagnosis to putting him down yesterday morning. I miss him... It happened so fast. I didnt want him to suffer to the extent of not being able to get up.. he was in pain.. he already could hardly get around and lost his appetite and pain meds had stopped working after a week.. I miss him tremendously. He would have been 12 October 22, 2008. He died on August 23rd, 2008.
RIP MR. BUDLEY, MOMMY LOVES YOU.
Every cancer dog story we hear is different, and Buddy's is one of the more tragic ones. Please try to find some peace in knowing that by sharing your experience here you will help others cope with and/or prepare for their own.
Rest in peace indeed Buddy boy...

We are so incredibly sorry to hear about Buddy...mom is particularly emotional about hearing of your loss because my brother's name is Buddy...You are very brave to have made such a selfless and difficult decision. We are sending thoughts and prayers your way at this very difficult time. We hope you can find peace knowing that he is happy and painfree with all the other dogs that have crossed that rainbow bridge.

We are so sorry for your loss. Sometimes this dreaded disease moves so quickly that it leaves us with few options. Know that this hard decision was for Buddy - to take away his pain. Buddy will be waiting for you, happy and pain free, at the bridge.
My deepest condolences to you. Sometimes, it's more difficult to accept the loss of a dog when it happens so quickly. We are here for you if there's anything you'd like to share. Just because Buddy has gone over the "Bridge" doesn't mean his story doesn't go on. In your deepest times of grieving, I hope you will try to remember all the good times you shared with your beautiful dog. We would love to hear any stories, or photos, you would like to share. This is one of the greatest support groups I have ever come across and the people and dogs are very sincere in their love for Buddy. We are here for you if you need us (I know I speak for everyone on this site).
Love, kisses, slobbers & Meow!

My heart really goes out to you. I lost my buddy of almost 10 years just a month ago to liver cancer. He showed no signs of illness until a month before he died; then it was a fast descent. We were fortunate that our kids all made it home to spend a week with him. On his last day, I took him to the river and he played lifeguard for the last time, even if he only got to swim a few strokes.
Anyway, I know how you feel. I still cry every day and miss him terribly. But I know that he's sending us another dog that needs us and I will take my sorrow and love and give it to the next dog and in turn, that dog is going to help me, too.
Dogs - they can never be replaced when they move on from our lives but the things they teach us make us better capable to take care of another wonderful dog.
Hang in there...
Mary
