Sounds like she is doing well. Some of the panting you are seeing may not be heat, it could be medication related. Trouble did some serious panting on tramadol.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Happy Memorial Day everyone!!!!
Well, I notice some swelling from both surgical sites. I am concerned about that and am trying to keep her quiet on the couch. I am kinda bummed about having to leave her tomorrow but my petsitter will look after her and the others. She got scrambled eggs mixed in with her food for breakfast yesterday and today. I probably shouldnt be but I felt she deserved a special treat until she gets stronger.
Probably just a seroma , not a big deal, it's just fluid drainage, but I would mention it to your vet. Sometimes they need to get drained. And a treat like that is definitely well-deserved right now! She's been through so much, spoil her rotten with lotsa good eats!

Thank you Jerry! That is what I thought it was, a seroma . I was busy on this website yesterday watching videos and I am watching her closely. Yesterday she was a bit more quiet than the first two days at home but that is what I wanted and this morning it looked like the swelling went down a little.
I dressed her in her tee shirt this morning and it was too funny. She looked up at me and wagged her tail and kissed me and it was like I was dressing my "baby".
I love all of my pack, but Astra and I have that "special" bond that is even stronger now.
She has a recheck at the vet tomorrow. I am sure they miss her!!!

...how am I going to get her in my truck?
If Astra is too heavy to lift and cannot make it into the truck on her own, you can use a towel slung under her belly, or use a canvas shopping back slit down the sides to make a handy sling. Also consider using a ramp, or placing sturdy blocks/boxes as a step. Good luck at the appointment, please keep us posted.

Astra had her follow up appointment yesterday, I cannot believe a whole week went by! She continues to do awesome and Dr C took some staples out and checked the swelling, which is just scar tissue forming and he gave her a little extra pain killer. She has been restless at night and since her and Kendra sleep with me, Mommy hasn't gotten much sleep. The Tramadol did the trick last night! Was I supposed to give it to her? or take it myself? Joke!!!!
She looks so cute in her teeshirts and bandana that I think I will have to take her clothes shopping!!!
