First I will say that it's not the cancer or the amputation that is giving us trouble. It's Nova's glaucoma. The pain has reared it's ugly head again. It's been well over a year since our last big scare with the pressure in Nova's remaining eye. Just to refresh memories, Nova is totally blind, but in one eye she had some sort of injection that in essence "killed" the eye because the pressure was so bad. Apparently this was not a procedure they could do on both eyes at the time because they couldn't know for sure that Nova had no sight in the remaining eye. So I have had to continue to keep the pressure under control in that eye. Very expensive glaucoma eyedrops, twice a day. In the past few weeks I have noticed a bloody ring in the "good" (if you want to call it that) eye. Didn't make that big of a deal of it because I was always told that there would be changes in the eye over time. Just in the past few days the lens of the eye (not really sure if that's what it is exactly, I'm not an eye anatomy expert...lol) has been bulging more and more. She was very irritable. I finally decided to set an appt tomorrow with the opthamologist, who I haven't seen in over a year.
Today she seems to be in tremendous pain, lots of whining and crying. But its tough because the whole time her tail is wagging, and she is snuggly as ever. She's usually a Drama Queen as it is, so it's hard to gauge the pain. The good news is she is eating just fine... in fact she just whined a beef trachea out of me! So that's the only way I can guess that the pain must not be excrutiating. The last time we had this crisis she wouldn't eat and had this crazed look about her. We aren't there yet, and hopefully we won't get to that point.
I am nervous because if they get high pressure readings there is not much else we can do to control it. She's on every medication there is. I am hoping that perhaps it's possible to repeat that procedure in the other eye, but that will mean anesthesia, which I am not enthused about.
Anyway, I know it's not Tripawd related, but I wanted to ask for some pawsitive thoughts for the Queen.
