Just a quick update on Percy. Today is his six month anniversary! Six months ago, I found out that Percy was part of the small percentage that had hemangiosarcoma in the bone and was told that even with amputation and treatment, we may only have two to three months. Happily, he's once again part of that small percentage…and totally surpassed that projection!
We'll be having treats here!!!! Six months is FABULOUS (said in my best Tim Gunn voice)! Rock on, Percy!!!!

Hooray for six months! We are always looking for happy excuses for more treats!
Abby's treats tonight will be in Percy's honor!

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
I say...."WAY TO GO PERCY!!!" Ranger and Athena say..."Thanks for the treats!!!" We all say..."Happy Ampuversary!!!"
Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end. On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us.

Thanks everyone! Percy is happy to provide an excuse for extra treats. He got an special treat himself of a home cooked meal…inspired by Rio's yummy dog soup. Rio, thanks for sharing!
Thanks also to everyone for the support that you all provide at this site. Having to deal with the cancer is bad enough. It's even worse to deal with it in the midst of people who don't get why this is so devastating and why our dogs are so important to us. It's a relief to find a community of people who get it. I'm not here very regularly, but whenever I do read the forums, I find the support and the positive-ness of everyones' comments and replies to be amazing.
