I'm Joan from the uk. I have 3 dogs one is a border collie and the other 2 have bc traits, one of these is Paddy with a front leg amputation. He was born in Southern Ireland Dec 2008 and one of a litter of 7. The poor babies, it must have been so cold for them all. Within 3 weeks, he had injured his leg and this developed into gangrene. Fortunately the dogs were taken into rescue and Paddy had to have his leg amputated from the socket otherwise the gangrene would have killed him. He went into foster and then moved to the uk to another rescue and from there we adopted him. I am still in touch with his wonderful foster mum who nursed him back to health. Paddy came with baggage. He'd had to fight for food. He was a baby. He didn't know what cuddles were. He didn't know what play was. He didn't know what toys were. He didn't know how to share. He didn't know he was special. We had to work through all his problems and by that I mean my husband and my other 2 dogs who are very strong and secure and beautifully bonded and they have been stars. Paddy is now a Flyballer, enjoys his swims, scared of thunder, shares his food and a cuddle monster. He's a very important member of our family but still a bit of a devil and I wouldn't have it any other way. xx
