Writing is one of life's most important skills. Whether you are looking for a job, have a job that requires written presentations, or want to communicate with family and friends, being able to write well is very important. Middle school is a time for kids to develop their writing skills, because in high school a well-written paper is a prerequisite, not a goal, and it will be too late to catch up. If you spent enough time writing in high school, you'll hear from your teacher during college that your papers are perfect. In addition, students have to avoid the usual patterns and develop their own writing style, which is something teachers pay attention to in older grades. Read the essay aloud. You'll be able to spot mistakes, parts that don't make sense, and sentences that are too short or too long for the reader. Practice this method in your room and feel free to ask your parents to listen to you. Separate long sentences that make you lose your breath into shorter ones, keeping them meaningful. Put together consecutive short sentences that disrupt the flow of your speech. If some words don't fit together, consult with your parents to find a better solution.
