- the vet said I can use boxer-shorts on her if I need to.
I'd love to see pictures of this, that has got to be good for a laugh!
I'm still trying to figure out what size she would need!! She's skinny and all - and if she gets boxers, I'll make sure they're funny ones

Denali, my Shelby and I wish you the best tomorrow! You're going to do GREAT! Shelby is one day behind you....her right front leg will be amputated on Friday so you two can recover together.
And I suspect your moms will become good friends via this forum and many sleepless nights.
Go get 'em!!
I added you to my buddy list - if you want to compare notes - feel free to PM me (even though Denali is getting the exact opposite leg amputated).

I can't tell from the picture how big she is, but she looks pretty small. Trouble was 69 pounds the day of her surgery. She lost 14# pretty quickly. I used a 4T tee shirt for her. That may give you a starting point.

Denali is around 83lbs - she's tall but skinny and I'd have to manuever her hips too.

DENALI UPDATE
Denali made it out of surgery and I'm allowed to visit her tonight. The vet said she was in good spirits and he will evaluate her tomorrow to let me know if I can take her home tomorrow or Saturday.

Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
So happy for you that Denali is doing so well after surgery. Seeing Denali for the first time will probably be very emotional. I remember seeing Mackenzie and just crying tears of joy because she was doing so well and she was alive - it was a miracle in my eyes. Everyone prepared me for the worst and what I saw was my beautiful puppy hopping to me and amazing me. So I hope you have that same experience when you see Denali. I also wanted to say that we kept Mackenzie in the hospital for one extra night - just to be more prepared for when she came home and just to make sure that she was up for coming home and didn't have any complications.
We're thinking of you and wishing you a great homecoming! Hope Denali has a speedy and smooth recovery!
Kami (Mackenzie and Kobe's Mom)
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
Farnam makes a plug in thing that emits pharamones (sp?) that's supposed to calm dogs during storms and fireworks...It's called the Calmative Comfort Zone for Dogs...works like a plug in air freshener. I've never tried it but Farnam is a reputable company...I know PetSmart carries them.
Hoping you have a good homecoming Denali.

So glad to hear that Denali made it through her surgery OK! Did you get to bring her home today? How is she doing?
Angel Jake's Mom
Jake, 10yr old golden retriever (fractured his front right leg on 9/1, bone biopsy revealed osteosarcoma on 9/10, amputation on 9/17) and his family Marguerite, Jacques and Wolfie, 5yr old german shepherd and the newest addition to the family, Nala, a 7mth old Bengal mix kittie. Jake lost his battle on 11/9/2009, almost 8 weeks after his surgery. We will never forget our sweet golden angel… http://jakesjou.....ipawds.com ….. CANCER SUCKS!
Tomorrow is Scooter's amputation of his right front leg. I'm so shocked about the cancer. Found out late last week about the bone cancer. Lungs clear, thank goodness. I love him so much. Please put Scooter's full recovery in your positive thoughts and prayers.
Sorry you find yourself here with us. I'm sorry to hear about Scooter. Please consider starting a new topic about Scooter so that Scooter won't get lost (since this is a 2 year old post - it's very confusing)
Please let us know how Scooter is doing. Okay?
There is another new member, Slim that is also having surgery tomorrow so you won't be alone.
