First few hours home after surgery!!
We are just home from the hospital. Toffee our Golden Retriever (9 years) had his front left leg amputated on Thursday. My kids are worried that he is lying on the side with the stitches. He seems comfortable but I thought I would ask this wonderful community for any feedback. This is so scary!!

Glad to hear Petra's surgery is over and she is doing well.  On to recovery!

Hello mischem and welcome.  Your future posts will not have to wait for approval.

Some pups will lay on the surgery side early- it could be that the good hospital meds are still numbing the area. Is he laying on a cold, hard surface? The cold may feel good on the incision.  As long as the incision stays clean it should be OK.

Please consider starting your own thread so we can answer your questions and Toffee's story doesn't get mixed up here with Petras.
